Casino Niagara 97.7 Tourney

Sorry, I don't know where to post this and probably did in the wrong section....

But anyways, I wanted to share that I played this tourney on Mon Oct 27, and was not at all impressed with how it was run, or structure, and will never play this type of tourney again.

Tourney ran with 3 sessions of 88 players, 264 players total. 3 players out of the 88 in each session moved on to the 'final' table, which makes 9 players plus 1 'wild card' where they draw a name.
So only these 10 players out of 264 get paid, 3.8% of players?

Cost was $115 entry, with a prize pool of $20, 000.
So take in is $30, 360 and payout is $20, 000...34% rake? wtf?

Also 1500 starting chips, 10 min blinds, same blind structure as sit & gos at niagara, 25-50, 50-100, and pretty much doubling every 10 mins.

In other words it was a bingo, each 88 player session lasted about 1.5-2 hours.
How the hell do they get away with running this type of tourney?
Is it because its a 'radio contest' tourney, not run by casino?

Anyway anyone else try it, or thoughts?

I dont know why my buddy convinced me to play it, should have done some homework first I guess.....
anyway Im more and more unimpressed by niagara casinos the more I play there I have to say...but oh well I guess I got to go somewhere else.

I posted negative reviews of this radio station tournament a couple of times before, but it looks like it has gotten even worse. This shows the importance of finding out the tournament structure first unless you just want to gamboool your money away. If you didn't win your seat through the station, it is a horrible tournament to pay your own money to.

you would have been much better off crossing the bridge to Seneca and playing in the Oct. 26th $150 tournament with $5,000 in starting chips and 30 minute blinds. If you made the money, you could worry about the getting back the withholding.

I didn't even know you could buy into this tourney, I thought it was only for winners on the radio (who won't complain about structure, i'm sure).

From what I saw there almost everyone had bought in, radio station only gave away 1 seat a day, I think for 30 days....so pretty much everyone had bought in...what a waste of money...I will never being doing that again....

I thought it was 3 seats a day for 30 days (that's what it used to be, i'm pretty sure). I always figured it was just those 90 players and paid top 9/10.
