Jamie Gold is truely a classy guy....

/sacasm

Quote:
As soon as the bubble burst, signifying that he had won his very hefty prop bet, Gold announced, "Never been so happy to cash in my life. Going out drinking if anyone's thirsty."

So, here's what happened.

Gold raised to 5,000 and the player on the button called. They saw a flop.
Flop:

Gold checked and his opponent bet 4,600. "Nice hand," said Gold and called.

Turn:
Gold checked and his opponent bet 11,200. "Nice hand," said Gold, and called again.

River:
Gold checked and his opponent moved all in to cover him. Gold called, and mucked his hand without looking. "I could have had the nuts," he said cheerfully, and left.

Awesome.

this is awesome and i think a part of poker as long as its sincere and not colluding. I just read that the chip leader on the first day has never won the wsop (i so just misquoted something) so its a great moment for hopefully an ametuer who prob had a decent pair, who likely won't get first anyways. and i think its possible jaimie knew he had the guy beat....will be funny to know

So it's awesome instead of just leaving and blinding out, dumped his chips?

maybe....i don't know enough about the game, would rather hear many other opinions.

but i made a decision the other day that acting and such as fair game. like if madisow won't shut up and it throws guys off that's skill. in the future you could have guys who create psychological shit storms....talent could expand alot that way.....so i think im down with those weird things that get around the rules of a 'fair' game

no?

jaimie's example is also about prop bets that change the game and the rulemakers can't really do anything about them...

I overheard a conversation some time ago that it is illegal at the WSOP to muck the nuts. Any truth to that I wonder?

EDIT: nevermind, I hadn't read the linked story until now. It says "Gold called, and mucked his hand without looking."

EDIT Once more: Is the prop bet (whatever it was all about) the only reason that Gold entered the event? No desire for another bracelet? No desire to win a tournament? No desire for preparing for the ME?

i actually don't mind this at the level he's playing...I hate this at home games. You know when someones phone goes off and they have to leave and go all in the next hand? They inevitably take someone out who actually wants to stay or they donate all their chips to whoever wakes up with a hand. Either way uncool. I guess I change my mind and he should just blind out....
