I tried a couple of the qualifiers, but haven't been able to make top 50 yet. Has anyone made it to the weekly final yet?

Had my pocket kings cracked by a three outer on the river to go bust....

there's just something about playing for hours on end just to win a chance to win a chance to win a ticket that i find tedious and time consuming.

But, I figure there are also lots of people out there that don't deposit online so this might be a good way for them to get there instead of playing play money chip tourneys.

I played one and ended up 130 something. If you can get past the retards that play in the first hour and get bounced out, it turns into decent poker after.

PokerStar$ Steps SNG Qualifiers are even worse. There is a rake/vigorish of 14-17% on each of the six Steps, which is ridiculously high for an online site. For every $10K seat they give out, it seems they take almost as much in total rake. For every WSOP package winner, there are up to 3,100 losers that got raped/raked.
Even if you are an above average satellite player, it is -$EV to pay for any satellite where there is not enough money being left in the prize pool. Even if you have a lot of FPPs, there are probably better ways to use them than a Steps satellite with 17% rake. None of the many seats that I have won to tournaments were through online satellites, so I don't know if the other online satellites are as bad as PokerStar$ Steps. Quote:

I played yesterday afternoon, I was in the top 30 with around 1100 left, first KK ran into AA and then with a little over 400 people left and somewhat short stacked AQ ran into KK. Oh well, theres still next years world series.
