Reminder: Poker on TV.

For those of you who haven't already torrented the episodes, we're about to re-enter the poker season on Canadian television. Finally.

WPT Season 2 begins on CityTV, starting this Sunday, Sept. 19th.
WSOP '04 begins on TSN, starting one week from today, Friday Sept. 24th. It looks like the first televised event will be a $2000 NL tournament.

Thanks all_aces.

Can I suggest that this become a "protected" thread, so we can share the dates and times as people find out about them (and we won't have to go looking too hard to find the info on the forum!)?

Thanks a bunch!

You rock Aces! Thanks for the heads up. I actually emailed TSN a few weeks back to try and find out the programming schedule for WPT......and I didn't get ANY reply from them. Sent a second email and still no reply. Pretty bush league if you ask me. Nothing I love more than flaking out on the couch on a sunday afternoon and watching poker. It even overrules sunday football!

Do you know the times? I have no idea since I was lucky enough to watch it on US channels until a few months ago.

Ummm... my guess is that by protected you mean sticky?

Sure thing.

The WPT begins this Sunday on City, from 4 to 6pm ET.

As for the WSOP, here's a schedule that someone on RGP received from TSN. This is from quite a while ago... they have obviously changed at least the start date (from Sat. to Friday) so they have likely changed a lot of the other dates as well. Nonetheless, it may still be helpful as a guide:

"From opening hand to the final bluff, TSN will televise complete
coverage of
the 2004 World Series of Poker. The complete broadcast schedule is as
follows:

Saturday, Sept. 25 from 7 p.m. - 9 p.m. ET
Saturday, Oct. 2 from 8 p.m. - 10 p.m. ET
Wednesday, Oct. 6 from 7:30 p.m. - 9:30 p.m. ET
Saturday, Oct. 9 from 7 p.m. - 10 p.m. ET (encore on Sunday, Oct. 10
at 2
p.m. ET)
Saturday, Oct. 23 from 7 p.m. - 10 p.m. ET
Sunday, Oct. 24 from 9 p.m. - 10 p.m. ET
Saturday, Oct. 30 from 7:30 p.m. - 9:30 p.m. ET
Saturday, Nov. 6 from 7 p.m. - 10 p.m. ET
Saturday, Nov. 13 from 7 p.m. - 10 p.m. ET

Enjoy the coverage!

Matthew R. Garrow
Communications Officer
TSN / OLN / ESPN Classic Canada / NHL Network / sports on CTV"

Poker Saturday

Yes I received that schedule from Matthew Garrow back in the summer. It's changed since, but looks back on track this weekend. I wrote CityTv in the summer saying I'm looking forward to more poker in the Fall. I'm planning to write TSN and SNET to let them know we're watching.

Sportsnet had an episode airing today but they moved it. Since there's no hockey, this weekend is Poker Saturday:

October 23rd

1pm Channel 213 WNYO/WB 49 Ultimate Poker Challenge (1 hour)
2:30pm Channel 22 SNetO Championship Poker at the Plaza in Vegas ( 1 hour)
7:00pm Channel 30 TSN Back to WSOP (3 hours)

Enjoy!

(My VCR is feeling really old school. Can we burn these episodes direct to DVD yet?)

After this weekend my PVR will be back up and running full time again, and I will be attempting to Vid-Capture and post torrents of all the poker I can find (Commercial Free of course).

You can pick up a DVD recode at your local electronics store for about $300-$400. The newer models have an additional Hard drive, which bumps the price up to about $800 but worth it for you can spare the cash.

It works just like a VCR, it has a tuner and you can record direct from TV or from other imputs. I have it connected to my PVR (Illico) and just dump the content from the PVR to the DVD recorder's Hard drive. I can then edit out the commericals and burn it to DVD.
