None of them are saying it's absolutley not going to happen, which leads me to believe that you do and it could happen. Approval seems to be the issue. Savage would have flat out said not happening if it was a mistake. (He also RT response so they don't mind the question and speculation)

Course this thread seems to surface annually.

I need something fresh to talk about, please let it be true!

In other news, the CPT (HDUP) announced a $500 in Saskatoon that will lead to bigger things today...almost as good

Just heard back from direct inside WPT contact:

Hey Jon,

Unfortunately these are false rumors and the WPT will not be visiting Canada in October. I’ll keep you posted on future WPT developments, and thanks for checking in.

Cheers,

lol that was just a random search by me. My sources have told me its happening, of course they could be wrong, but I wouldnt understand why they would lie, and considering there position I find it hard to believe that they would be misinformed, with that said. 3-1 offer withdrawn lol

Your search was good. We all seen it, now it's gone. 100% your sources were right, everything points to an agreement between venue and tour being reached, but not being able to get over the regulatory approval hump.

Nobody is going to say that it even got that close as it just makes the regulators look like the bad guy and doing that just hampers future efforts.

Sucks big time!

PS (That said your odds might be good that they will keep trying and your bet will pay off big) Let it ride, lol.

All joking aside, I have heard this isn't over yet, but just rumors.

I just talked to my Palladium VIP Host, and it seems that the WPT event has suddenly been cancelled and that there will be NO qualifiers!

The bitch of it all is if we ever want to see these events get into Canada, online needs to step away so as not to spook regulators. Gaming law in several provinces is quite cut and dry regarding ANY involvement. Once in awhile, if it appears that there was absolutely no fault on a Tours part that sats where run, it will slide, but someone has to turn a blind eye. If someone already has a bone to pick, it's as simple as monitoring google alerts to see if it is being adhered to.

AGLC doesn't piss around and will not approve anything with even a sniff of online affiliation and OLG is rumored to be worse. the whole reason the Montreal Open wraps up in Las Vegas was a very knowledgable gaming lawyer that worked Quebecs laws properly and they are more liberal.
Nothing is awarded here in Canada, so they allowed Full Tilt, especially considering charitable portion.

In all reality, casinos can't advertise on any site with a link to online poker,
(including forums) though they have no control over if we post about about their events. They certainly can't hire anyone too. .net zynga or
otherwise (except provinces with regulated poker and then Geo targeting is
needed)

There has been occasions in the past for sure where applications where rejected simply because the regulator found a link.

And that was before Black Friday.

Size of Borgata? Casino Montreal, Playground Poker Club and Four Aces all run "larger" tournies, Playground best bet for "series" style events.

On a side note, anyway to split this thread to keep the Borgata portion intact?
