Results -
Mike won the first game with a chop with me. Game lasted 2.5 hours.
Black Magic - Ted won the second game with a chop with me again. He basically ran over the whole table....well done. Game was done just under 2 hours.

Thanks to Dead Money for hosting the satellite. I finally got to play two satellites within three hours instead of zero satellites at the casino the previous two days!
Thanks to pkrfce9 for the ride in his studmobile. Several of the faces looked familiar from Fallsview, so it was like playing at the casino, except with more chips, no rake, lower buy-in and being assured of playing in a satellite without waiting around for the whole day.
Unfortunately for me, I just remembered that the WSOP league I play in starts next Thursday, so I won't be able to make it to the first satellite. If I get eliminated early from my league, I will phone to see if there is a second satellite that I can play in.
Just as I predicted that the Orangeville players I played with would make money in Las Vegas this summer (four did including SteveKerr), I predict that the players who participate in Dead Money's satellites will win at least four WPT $10,300 seats. Quote:

Maybe its better to play against a random field of players at Fallsview (and pay rake) vs against known skilled forum players?

Except for two forum buddies that I have played with before, everybody else were an unknown "random field of Fallsview players"! It would have been incredibly stupid for the ten of us to drive to the casino, give up $290 equity/rake and have 18,000 less chips to play with. It was also a lot more fun, while at the casino we would have gotten penalties for all the joking and talking. Since your poker thinking is so opposite to what pkrfce9 and I would do, then I guess I won't be seeing you in any of the upcoming rake-free satellites and I'll be gamboooling with you at the high-rake crapshoots at the casino. Also the game doesn't take 45 minutes to get started once we are all seated
I think the game is more of a primer beyond anything else. Really at the end of the day 140.00 is not a big smash to the pocket if indeed you are playing 170s,460s,1240s at fallsview to qualify for the wpt.
The fact that the structure is the same as the 1240 and you are playing with potential players that you could meet in the 1240 or the main event is actually a great bargain if you ask me.
I have already gotten a few pieces of information from the past 2 weeks which I think is more valuable than the 140.00x3 I spent on it. Winning one is just an added bonus.

definitely a more skilled field than the random table at Fallsview, assuming you can get one started. Hopefully one of you makes the final table this year.

I will have to disagree with you as usual - just like our wives! Having seen all the well-bankrolled sharks at the Fallsview satellites, it is a myth that ten randomly selected forumers like you would be better than ten randomly selected players in the Fallsview 2/5 - 10/25 poker room. All my friends (who couldn't be bothered to play in a rake-free satellite) keep getting quickly eliminated at the casino satellites. It will become even tougher in October as many sharks and professionals still have to make their appearance in the $10,300 battlefield. Quote:

A couple more players who had participated in rake-free satellites won their $10,300 WPT seats this weekend! They are playing in Day 1c today, along with SirWatts, Choron, and Daniel Negreanu. So the rake-free participants won a total of not four, but NINE WPT seats!
My next prediction: at least one of these participants will make it to Day 4. Quote:
