The deck started with 52 cards, right? Dealers always put the cards on their back before shuffling up. That means it's a pretty serious incident if the cards were never found <.<

Article mentions "40 minutes with the same deck". Do they not use two decks at each table? If so, how could the dealer not notice the difference between the two?

Regardless, I cannot see any form of restitution, as all players seem to have been affected equally (at this table).

There are 2 decks on each table, but for speed only one is used in play.

Sadly, Jamie Gold is right, they must get to the bottom of this. Where are the missing cards? What cards are missing? What compensation will be given to players who busted during this time? Why hasn't Gold busted yet? Who knew he was still playing poker?

We had a situation at the Brantford tournament a couple weeks ago.

Early in the tourny we just had a dealer change and the incoming one was clearly at the end of a long day. She dealt a hand with an early position raise that was folded around. Next thing I realize as I'm looking at my hole cards that the muck from the previous hand (16 cards as we were 8 handed) is sitting in front of her as action starts on the current hand. I do a double take and look around to see if anyone else noticed as a raise and re-raise is announced. I quietly ask the guy beside me if the muck looks right for 4 folds and give a look to the dealer who I think notices what has happened. We all do the hear/see/speak no evil routine and play continues without anyone else catching on. At the break the guy beside me comments on how f'd up that was but also wasn't sure if we should have brought it up after action started..

Should I have spoken up?
