I hope a CPFer gets quad Jacks:

Beef Jerky Party Packs Aplenty!

If you haven't heard about it by now, the World Series of Poker is sponsored by Jack Links Beef Jerky. Right when the tournament started the tournament announcer got on the horn to let everybody know about an amazing promotion.

Any player that took down a pot with four jacks would win a $100 Beef Jerky party package! The room buzzed as players discussed the joy and glory that $100 in dried beef would bring if they were lucky enough to pick up four jacks.

Some wondered if it would even happen. Well, it only took about ten minutes to find out the answer to that question.

With four jacks on board, two players at table blue 32 were lucky enough to each earn $100 worth of beef. We're not sure what they plan to do with their newfound beef bankroll, but if they use good beef management, they'll have jerky for quite some time.

I'd rather be the Blue Diamond Almonds Bold Player of the Day! The beef jerky company is having a horrible promotion so far. I've never seen a jerky sample or product being sold anywhere and no Sasquatch in sight. The Milwaukee Best Light girls and Sapphire girls have much better marketing.

[ ] Amazing Promotion

So players ante up $10k to play the tournament and the best they can do is $100 worth of Beef Jerky... thats a joke.

Interesting hand I came accross on 2+2:

Quote:
so, my friend was in the hand where pham went ballistic.

here is a rough account of what happened...pham opened and friend called from the bb. friend had QsJc and the flop was 910A with 2 spades. friend check called a flop bet from pham (please, no strat discussion). turn was the 8 of spades . friend checked and pham checked behind. river was a 4 spade. friend lead river for 625 (he threw out a 1k chip and a 25 chip but announced that he was betting 625). pham had earphones on and i guess didnt hear the bet amount (even though the dealer clearly announced it) and pham threw out a 1k chip AND a 500 chip. this is obv a raise since it isnt a single overchip. at this point, pham asks to see my friends cards and my friend is like "um, you raised". this is where pham flips out and wants a floor and blah blah. the floor ruled it was a raise and pham did not like this ruling. he was cussing the dealer out, slammed his chair into the table and walked off for about 40 mins. as he was walking away from the table, he threw another chair and also threw a cup of water into the wall. when he got back from his 40 min walk, he was promptly hit with a 35 min penalty.

(hand might not be right, but the river betting is the only thing pertinent to the story)

Chorny Awarded Controversial Pot
Some controversy has erupted just before the break on Glen Chorny's table. Chorny limped in from middle position before a late position player raised it up to 800 to go. The blinds folded and suddenly the dealer dropped the deck, pushed the pot to the late position player and mucked his cards as Chorny was sitting there with live cards! The floor was called over to make a ruling and the lead supervisor had to be called. At this point Chorny said that he was happy to forfeit the pot but wanted his 300 chips back that he had put into the pot. The table appeared to be satisfied with this arrangement but the lead supervisor ruled that you need live cards in order to receive the pot. It was ruled that the late position player would receive his 500-chip raise back, however the 300-chip call would stay in the pot which was then given to Chorny. Everyone at the table disagreed with this ruling as it was dealer neglect which caused the problem in the first place. However they were reminded that it is a player's responsibility to protect his cards at all times and unfortunately his ruling stood, much to the surprise of an apologetic Chorny.

What about this from Phil Ivey? I know someone that was at this table, not too happy

World Series of Poker Presented by Jack Link's Beef Jerky - Official Tournament Coverage and Results -

Unfortunately the Amazon Room was not immune to controversy either. Players who drew table 90 in the orange section arrived to find they had drawn the same table as Phil Ivey and would be moved to a feature table. When Ivey arrived he insisted he did not want to be at a feature table and his request was honored. The other eight players were more than a little irritated since playing at a feature table entitled them to about $10,000 in sponsorship money from various companies as well as the chance to be part of the broadcast.

Not wanting to be at a feature table did not stop the cameras from converging on Ivey's table. He was eating when they showed up and he asked that they not film him while he was eating, causing the cameras to leave and not return until after the dinner break.
