Playing Tight: Gettin to much respect

While i'm no dan harrington (obivously in skill or in overall tightness), on a few occasions where i've played in some private clubs i've been recognized as a tight player. So i receive a lot of respect for my raises from most players who have been at the table for some time. (ie. i've had a guy who is an absolute calling stations, fold top pair to me ... something litteraly no one at the table had ever seen him do) .

Problem is that my big hands tend to only win me small pots. Ie ... they're usually folding to the bet on the turn, so i'm not getting any BBs from them

Now while i do play tight, i do venture out on occasion and play suited and unsuited connectors and even jumping connectors. I find these hands are almost the only ones i get really paid off on my other players, mainly because they can't figure out what i hit on the flop. If i break it down, this is where a large portion of my wins are coming from.

So other than this what other than these drawing hands, what tools can i insert in my game so that i can get some action on my good hands.

I'm assuming it's limit hold'em no higher than $5-10.

Throw in a raise when you think you're beat but have a decent draw.
If he mucks -- and he might if your image is that tight -- show
your cards. If not, just call him down. Be willing to lose this
hand to advertise for future action.

This is applying to old adage: ``You have to give action to get action.''

And if you do have a good hand, bet if everyone else checks, but if someone else bets, just call to the river, and then on the river, a mid sized raise might do the trick. It works for me most of the time.

If people are folding to you, this is a good thing! I would guess that all you need to do is loosen your starting standards just a little bit, favouring big-card hands and pairs over suited and connectors (if you're getting respect, you want hands that do well heads-up). Hopefully this will allow you to continue taking small pots, but now you're taking enough of them for it to be profitable.

My instinct is.... none.

You probably are better advised to start taking some liberties and stealing some pots that you otherwise could not. THis is probably a better route to bigger profits. As opposed to trying to add profit be "getting paid off."
