Small one, but a decent one.

Ok, so I was in the casino playing for cash for the first time last week. It was on a bit of a whim as a friend called me up out of the blue and asked me if I wanted to go.

Fast forward. I'm at the table playing really tight and noticed this one guy raising and going all in a lot. His stack size and demeanour told me that he was trying to win his money back as fast as he could and would take risks to do it.

So, after him raising people, bluffing and being bluffed off his own bluff he goes all in for $40 preflop (not a lot to some, but it was %20 of my stack). I have pocket 7's and for some reason I just put the guy on AK and though, what the hell? Turns out he had A9 and my 7's stood up.

Small win for a below average player.

You need to work on hand ranges.
AK = A9 vs your 77.

The odds are almost the same whether he had AK or A9. 2 overs to your pair.

And you never put a guy on 1 hand. You can't. You can narrow the range of hands he's playing which by your description (since you didn't specify what he bluffed with) is Ax, broadway and pairs.
