Too tight?

I only play limit hold 'em online, my NL game is weak, I don't believe I am aggressive enough. I think I am playing too tight in late position with a raise in front of me. $1/$2 Limit, new to the table no real reads on anyone...not that I am the best at reading people.
EP raisies, I have A7s in the SB, it's $1.50 to me...I fold...I usually dump ATo or less to a raise and A9s or less. Next hand I see A9o again raise in front $2 to me and I fold....is this play too weak? Incidentally the raiser in the first situation showed QJo? A hand I would likely never raise on a full table, certainly not from EP, heck I would likely dump this hand in EP, of course I would have won the pot in this instance.

In limit I find with so many people seeing the flop weak aces end up having kicker problems if they hit at all and I usually adhere to the thinking that if there is a raise in front of me then really tighten up to premium hands.....but with 4-5 to a flop usually is this a mistake?

I realize this is a very general question...just wondering how other people play low-mid aces to a raise in late position when playing low-limit loose games, should I be calling 1 bet with suited aces to see a flop regardless?

Re: Too tight?

As always, it depends - on the texture of the game, etc.. but generally fold hands like A9o to a raise. Avoid cold-calling a raise. Either reraise or fold. There are a few hands that I might call a raise cold with, small pairs with a lot of players, etc...

You will regularly see people playing garbage at your 1/2 game and might be able to get away with calling a raise with ATo... but if you ever decide to move up, even to 2/4, you will get trounced calling raises with those hands. You'll find that you are more often up against hands like AK and AQ than A6.

Oh, I'll always play a suited ace for one bet. Very rarely two unless EVERYBODY wants to call as well.

Re: Too tight?

At these limits I usually call in late position especially with the suited A. Â*There are a wide range of hands people play at this level and yours although not terribly strong has value especially in a 5 -6 handed pot. Â*If you hit then I start to bet and see where you stand. Â*You will be surprised on how many bad players/cards are being played. Â* Â*Again reads are important and I usually find that when I sit down at the table I am usually always raised the first 3 or 4 hands with some real bad cards. Â*

Re: Too tight?

thanks guys, I'll pretty much always dump the unsuited stuff...I think playing Ace-rag is a good way to lose money but I think folding a suited ace for one bet in LP with a few other players to the flop is definitely a leak in my ultra tight game.

Re: Too tight?

With A-7s in the SB I will call a raise if there are two callers (three including the raiser).

In this case, fold. You are playing a weak hand out of positoin with poor pot/implied odds.
