    Strategy for Casino play

what general advice can you offer to a guy sitting down at the 1/2 tables in a casino, I dont play very often and I'm looking for some general advice that I can keep in mind...

I would appreciate ant tips you might want to give.

    **background**
so I rarely get a chance to go the the city and play some cards, as luck would have it I can go next week (Halifax).

I have not been in about a year now and my previous visits were ...interesting.

On my last trip I played pretty good - very lucky to have some fish sit down at my table and I took some money from them, I also played a solid game and built my buyin of $160 to $550 over 5 hours. The last hour I was really card dead and was just about to pack up when I was dealt KK on the button. I played it hard and decided my opponent ( a guy who was a really good player) had a lower pocket pair with a straight draw .. well it turned out he had AA and took all my chips.
I know all my chips should never have been in there but I was super tired and played well beyond my capability. wasn't thinking straight.

This time I wont have that issue because I will be rested and don't have to drive up there that day.

Previous visits have yielded small wins and losses nothing to write home about.

Don't play tired. Don't drink. Play connected cards IN POSITION.. If the table doesn't feel good, change tables..
If someone doesn't hate you, you're a wimp... comp: circa 2012.. and now 2013 as well, quite likely continuing into 2014, Now confirmed as CONTINUING well into 2014. Ah, f'it, 2015's just more of the same..

Well you can mix it up, but wouldn't it be better to be the raiser, then you can win by either making the best hand or convincing any caller you have a big hand.... If you are playing a hand, raise it.. Otherwise fold.

<<<< doesn't always follw his own advice..

honestly, just play basic ABC poker. play tight agressive. look to play good drawing hands in position, and when you hit a flop hard, bet it hard. idiots will call you down.

See above. If you don't get there often, regs are going to pick up on that pretty quick and eat you alive.

Stay calm. If you don't get there often, it's an exciting experience. You don't want that to show in your face, actions, behaviours. Don't get too excited, frustrated, nervously chat it up with everyone, etc.

ABC Poker should win the day at the 1/2 level. Fold lots and play aggressive when you hit your hands. Don't play those middling hands - they will get you in the most trouble. Also, don't over play TP TK....one pair is okay, but if your raises are getting called, slow down a bit (think small ball). Position is key. And as for JJ - tread carefully...GL!

    Order of operation : Raise/Fold/Call, Fold/Raise/Call

    - ALWAYS play a pair if your stack and your opponents are at least 10x the pre-flop raise
    - don't play too many hands
    - TPTK no good in a cash game
    - careful who you try to bluff; hard to get players off draws or middle pair at 1/2. As noted, play your made hands aggressively (don't slow play to get rivered)
