Playing small pairs

I've found that the biggest leak in my tournament play is my overconfidence in low pairs. I always hope the villains are on overcards, however they usually turn over a higher pair. My strategy when blinds are low is to call as cheaply as I can and hope for a set, fold if it doesn't show, and when blinds are high I usually just push. How do you recommend I change this?

It's OK to fold baby pairs preflop in early position.

depends more how you know the people your playing with, if they are tight and betting, just give them up, best case scenario you flop a set while lucky and get it in, worst case scenario you get flopped set over set and just lose it all......not saying dont play them, just make sure your often careful with whom your playing with and deep stack poker, just dont invest alot

Thanks for the advice. I'll try to play them a little more disciplined.
