Do we bet this river?

Should I have potted preflop? Mainly checked to disguise my hand a bit but also at this level I wind up playing 4 players OOP in a big pot.

I dont understand checking pf, its pot limit, dont you want to build pot so if you hit you can get value. At these levels i havent seen many players with any sense of what they are doing, so disguising the strength seems pointless.

The ten hits one possible draw, pretty much safest board you could ask for with top set, so i doubt its a WA/WB situation. id value bet and hope one has something like two pair and will pay you off.

Don't disguise your hand!
Playing your hand deceptively makes hand reading harder for both you and your opponents.

Bet it preflop!
Bet it on the flop!!

As played , on the river.

1. Do you think check raise bluff is in their ability? (Hint:no)

2. Therefore, If you raise and get check raised, you can safely fold.

You played the hand correctly. Checking out of the BB is the correct play not because you want to disguise your hand, but because potting in this you are only going to get the small blind out at most and your hand is not that strong in a 3 possibly 4 way pot.

(the only hands i raise in that spot are AKQJ, 8910J etc with suited because they play strong multiway.)

as I see it you played it as correct as possible. IMO when villan checks to you on the river there they either missed a flush or a 57 draw like 80% or the time, part of the time they have the case A or flopped 6's and 8's. Either situation you are not getting value out of them by betting pot most of the time and you want to be 1/4 to 1/3 of the pot at most for value or you could check behind cause like a said they likely missed a draw. If you do decide to make a small value bet and get check potted folding is the right play.

hope this helps

To answer the question, absolutely bet the river....getting raised will make an easy fold, but value betting can get called by 2 pair often, especially at this level.

As for potting pre, sometimes I would, sometimes not.....if you get called by 4 hands, pretty much throw your A's on any flop that doesn't include an A or big draw. I would pot in position everytime, but out of the BB, it's kinda like throwing money away unless you can get folds out of a couple limpers.

newby alert.

So the Aces double suited are not as strong as a run up like 89TJ in this situation?

I guess the straight/boat combinations from the run play stronger multi-handed. Should the run up be double suited here or is a rainbow good enough? Flush draws with none-ace seem pretty risky in this game.

correct, suited is preferable because they help for backup draws if 2 people have the same straight draw. Also, you are correct that you do have to be careful with non-nut draws
