Ok, here's the situation:

- Previous hand, I just doubled up to 97K (slightly above average, 78K), playing very TAG, which is a little different from my believed image as LAG.
- Late in tourney, 3 tables left, table had broken about 5 hands ago to bring a couple new players.
- Blinds sit at 2.5K/5K + 400 ante, 110 total players, 11 spots paid
- Villain in hand is a relative unknown, just got moved to the table, knocked out person in first hand being dealt AA (he raised pre and got jammed)...his stack sits at just over 100K

Here's how it played out:

- Folded to me on Button + 1, look down at two Q's
- Button has me covered (170K), SB has about 50K, and BB 110K
- I raise to 13.5K
- Folded to BB (villain) who doesn't take much time to repop to 25K.
- Hero??

Just want to hear how you guys might have played it from here, as I'm questioning my play.

He's in the BB? Just won a big hand showing AA? You are raising from the cutoff and your range could be quite wide. Hmm, I'm not folding QQ when his thoughts on your range could be quite wide... Ship...

I probably shove the last few of my chips here, he's getting a good enough price to call unless he's bad

At an online tourney, this is a shove pretty much all the time.

In a live setting (I am talking about playing at your avg local casino donkament - not like a live 10k WPT) vs your typical live players.....the bb's hand is going to be weighted towards a much stronger range, because:

A) Live players don't 3 bet often
B) His 3 bet sizing is extremely small - especially since he's oop.
C) He's going to have a really good price on the call if you shove

Regardless of these facts, your hand is way to strong to ever really consider folding...and your stack isn't large enough to be flatting more than 1/4 your stack.....this really leaves you with your option of shoving.

Although, we're never folding QQ here...we're not exactly thrilled with it. Against the bb's range, I expect his typical range to be AK, JJ+....and not much wider.

I actually was pretty sure that I was at best in a coin flip here, and couldn't bring myself to fold.

Of course I did the non-standard flat, got the 7 high board, and jammed when he led out on the flop......as expected he shows KK.

Was curious if anyone considers a fold here ever.

There's definitely a big difference between live play and online play but with 20 BB's this is a cooler. If you start second guessing that or folding queens in this spot you're slowly just turning into another fishy live player who travelled all the way from home and is now holding on to his tournament life with all he's got. And from what I've seen of you you're better than that.

Tournaments simply aren't more fun than this some of the time but when coolers happen you don't try to get away from it if you know you can't, you put it in, bust with your head held high and don't even second guess yourself later, even if this is the bubble.

The fact that live bubbles and finaltables are so shallow stacked often time (sometimes as low as 6-8BB's average) is a testiment too just how hard some live players suck and how far they'll go not to bust. Don't let it keep you from playing correctly. unlucky though
