FYI I had been coming in for the min raise (as i like to) every hand on the button. This is to disguise my big hands, and give me a bit more pot when I have the button advantage.

I just never see these "non obvious" straights. And he got me twice! I'm pretty good at knowing when to fold when I know I'm beat, but neither time did I think he could have had me (especially the first time) and yet he nailed me twice with the same kind of hand. Help?

Last night I stayed up late playing poker with Tarot cards. I got a full house and four people died.

1st hand is tough as it is hard to put him on anything on that board. But, if you had seen him calling with any 2 I would be weary of the re-raise. That seems to say that he really likes his hand and isn't going anywhere. Difficult board though as you probably put him on a flush draw or something. The other thing I don't like is your disguising big hands by min-raising every hand on the button. At those levels most players will cal a min raise with any 2 and thats what happened here. As the saying goes, min-raises cause cancer and it sure did here.

2nd hand you have J9 and called a reraise preflop. Again, whats with this min-raising crap? It tells you nothing as almost anyone will call a min raise. Unless you are the one making the miracle river straight then proceed with caution on a hand like this. Why are you reraising him after he check raised you Did you expect to get him off what he is saying to be a big hand? So many hands beat you here and those extra chips could have been enough to make your comeback. 2 pair is not a good hand. I think the half-pot bet on the turn was pointless. It is too small and remember what happened preflop. He may have a Q or J in his hand with a better kicker. I think you either bet like 80% of pot to try and end it there and check the rest, or just check the turn. What if he was trapping with Qs, Js or pocket 7s?

Whenever you get check raised take your time. Look at the board, think about the hand, and think what hands he might possibly have.
