Fold or Shove?

PokerStars Game #62244346912: Tournament #394638839, $4.00+$0.40 USD Hold'em No Limit - Level XXIII (1250/2500) - 2011/05/18 2:50:32 ET
Table '394638839 17' 8-max Seat #2 is the button
Seat 1: xPaperChase (17428 in chips)
Seat 2: focifater (145876 in chips)
Seat 3: McAusland (68999 in chips)
Seat 5: goatmasterau (70956 in chips)
Seat 6: lopergolo (113562 in chips)
Seat 8: I like Farol (74695 in chips)
xPaperChase: posts the ante 310
focifater: posts the ante 310
McAusland: posts the ante 310
goatmasterau: posts the ante 310
lopergolo: posts the ante 310
I like Farol: posts the ante 310
McAusland: posts small blind 1250
goatmasterau: posts big blind 2500
*** HOLE CARDS ***
Dealt to McAusland [8c 8s]
lopergolo: folds
I like Farol: folds
xPaperChase: raises 14618 to 17118 and is all-in
focifater: raises 17882 to 35000
McAusland: ? ? ? ?

Context: $4.40 8max tourney, ITM, 17 left, one more gone and we move up another $8.50 ($19.50 to $27.00), not worried about PaperChase as he's shoving any A, any pp 55+. focifater is sitting 3/17 at this point, has yet to play any hands since I sat down (3 orbits). So, fold or shove? I don't think calling makes any sense in this situation since I would be commiting 50%+ of my stack.

Since I'm exhausted from busting out 11th in that tourney and having been up 23 hours straight, here's what happened.

folds
goatmasterau: folds
Uncalled bet (17882) returned to focifater
*** FLOP *** [8h 7d 9c]
*** TURN *** [8h 7d 9c] [6h]
*** RIVER *** [8h 7d 9c 6h] [8d]
*** SHOW DOWN ***
xPaperChase: shows [Ad Kc] (a pair of Eights)
focifater: shows [Qs As] (a pair of Eights - lower kicker)
xPaperChase collected 39846 from pot
*** SUMMARY ***
Total pot 39846 | Rake 0
Board [8h 7d 9c 6h 8d]
Seat 1: xPaperChase showed [Ad Kc] and won (39846) with a pair of Eights
Seat 2: focifater (button) showed [Qs As] and lost with a pair of Eights
Seat 3: McAusland (small blind) folded before Flop
Seat 5: goatmasterau (big blind) folded before Flop
Seat 6: lopergolo folded before Flop (didn't bet)
Seat 8: I like Farol folded before Flop (didn't bet)

Just shoot me.

folding was probably it, your racing and at that point its not worth it.....more importantly you should have went for a walk instead...love those quad hands you dont play!!

Its a tough one here. You have a good enough stack its ok to fold, but in these situations it usually is that your a little bit better then a race. Because I also assume first shover has an A or maybe a hand like KQ and the Min raiser is gonna have one of the cards the first shover has. SO instead of 6 outs you have to dodge 5. or 8 to beat both but I think most important is beating forcifater. However knowing that he hadnt played a hand in 3 orbits at this level a fold might be better here I think. If you pushed it would be fine too, but I think from your discription a fold is better.

I actually popped open the hand replayer thingy and scanned through every hand since I sat at the table. He had played two. From the BB. I thought the fold was the right play as I was too easily dominated by him in that situation. He would make that same play 3 more times in the tourney (that I saw) with 1010, JJ and QQ, so I think that AQo was the bottom of his range for that play.

snap fold here and don't be results oriented. We assume the SS is shoving any 2 cards and when he is 3-bet our 88 starts looking weak.

If we assume SS shoves with Any 2 and the 3better makes our hand look completely like a flip and at this stage of the tournament i don't like flipping against 2 random hands rather than folding and waiting for a better spot.
