First, I would likely not call the first bet except I knew this guy....and he was raising for the blinds. Based on previous betting patterns I knew he did not hit anything after the flop either ... I guess because I would have folded my flush draw if it was going to cost me that much to chase...I am wondering if I had just shoved on the flop would it have rep'd something more? I personally dont think he was folding regardless....but why risk your stack on a bluff at that point? not once but twice.....BAH. Did I do this wrong?

Additional info not provided in OP:
- it's a massive freeroll qualifier in which you must finish in the top 10
- at level 16, the tourney is still 1.5 hours and hundreds of players away from that point


With 22,500 chips in the pot pre-flop and a flush draw (and maybe even two live cards for a winning pair), if I'm worth33, my remaining 61,617 chips (8m) are going in on the flop whether you check, bet or shove all-in.

Personally, I wouldn't have flat called his pre-flop raise. It would have been all-in or fold right there for me (since the sb was not a threat).

Yes I know. Too much to hope I am not the only one who always tries to play the best game I can..no matter what the buy-in or lack of one. That aside, comments on the play would be great...was the re-raise a good move? Should I have just pushed pre?

Thanks Lantern..will keep this in mind in the future, even with the small pp the shove would have looked more threatening.

And we were at about 250 players left at this point too. Not too far off as I got nailed again shortly after and went out in the 100's. But like was said by Dennis...Freeroll. I know I know..But as I qualified for this for season one already, I know it was maybe another 20-30 mins of play left for top 10 ... give or take. Try try again.

The 'best' game you can play cannot be accomplished in a freeroll.

This has been discussed over and over again, but the punchline is that you are wasting your time in a game that is not representative of actual poker as you will NEVER win these based on skill, but rather, a shitload of rungood and the grace of God.

Freerolls like this are degeneracy and a misuse of time better spent reading say..HOH where you would learn that set mining for 6k when the guy has like 64k back even in a loose game like this isn't ideal even IF you had some reason to believe that he's going to stack off..(IE: read of monster pair to which he is lawfully wedded) You don't.

Better play of this freeroll hand involves sprained wrists and (at this stage in the tourney) SEVERAL empty booze bottles.

If you know that the guy is opening a wide range you're obv 3betting or if you're not deep enough shoving pre. As played you're just playing a guessing game on a flop that could counterfit you if he has 5 high

I think the problem with freerolls is that this generation of players hitting the tables either A)didn't grow up playing 80's/early 90's video games where you were awarded points and, even though they meant nothing, you were always doing your best to get the most points, B) are bots, C) are republicans, or D) are complete tools with no skill that will chase anything but are unwilling to put money on the line to do it because they are a bunch of talentless, skilless punks with no hope, future or intelligence.

pre-flop shove imo. You don't really have set mining odds because villain will usually not have much of a hand the times you flop sets, so otherwise you'll be c/fing 7/8th of the time.
