Villain has been chasing (and hitting) cards all throughout this sit'n'go, which is how he got to be such a big stack. I think I played this badly, but considering the circumstances and what happened on the river I'd just like to hear some feedback.

Obviously, I put him on a draw here or slow playing a big hand, but much much much more likely a draw considering how he had been playing so far. If he just shoved me in on the river I was just going to fold, but the smallish bet made me wonder if he missed the flush draw, so then I had to see what garbage he had been calling me with.
My question: How badly did I play this, and how would some of the other forumer's have done differently. Thanks for any advice.

You have the dummy end of the straight draw, so I'd be careful with it, and add in that he's got position on you, it makes this hand much more dangerous to play.

If he's the type of player that will just call you down (Sounds like he's a bit of a Calling Station), then you're likely putting in bad money after bad.

I'd probably wait for a better spot to play a hand against this type of player (when you're in position). Plus, limping in makes it hard to define your hand, especially on a board like this where he could have already flopped a straight.

He also had a chance to get all your chips, but didn't, so he made an even bigger mistake by not shoving all in. This only reinforces that this player.....

(a) Doesn't understand the game of poker.
(b) Is "NOT" the kind of player tricky play will work against.
(c) Because of a and b, shows that he'll probably chase anything down.

He let you off the hook big time. You didn't play the hand well, but he made a much larger mistake by not fully taking advantage of the situation.

You're only one double-up away from getting back into it from what I see.

Just wondering though, why the bet on the river? I'd probably have checked it down.

I think I change the bet sizing a bet. You are on a draw like previously said with a pair. At this point with 2 other people in the hand I am not looking to build a pot until I hit my card to make my straight.

You technically lost the minimum the way the hand was played out. Once again I would have squeezed in that position preflop. I hate people limping late position.

More aggression preflop will get rid of most of these situations.
