Played too weak?

At first I thought he hit trip 8's on the turn but his river bet suggested otherwise. Should I have re-raised on the river? Or any other point in this hand?

I think you played it pretty well, other than maybe not pushing back on the flop (min raises are always odd). But I guess maybe you didn't want to show too much strength. The 2nd 8 is obviously gonna slow the action right down though.

With KK on this type of boards (no obvious straight or flush draws and not likely that opponent catched a two pair) and a single opponent, my guess is that the right play on the levels we are playing is to go all the way and play it as tough as your opponent is willing to play it. Sure sometimes you will run into a set (AA would re-raise you preflop). But most of the time you will have him beaten.

I think I'm a little to weak myself in this situations. Bet on the turn, and -as played - re-raise him on the river instead of just calling. Especially a smaller re-raise might get him curious enough to make a call and thereby increase your profit on the hand! But I can remember plenty of times when I just called the river in similar situations..
