Beginning of Enlightenment in Poker?

Colorado Verdict a Huge Victory for Poker - Poker News - CardPlayer.com

A small victory to be sure, but it could be the start to end the "luck vs skill" debate of the game. Five players have won their battle by bringing in expert testimony, convincing the judge that poker is not illegal based on the fact that its a game of skill moreso than it is of luck.

Could this be the beginning? Could this be the precedent that will change the legal aspects of the game in the future? One can hope, but its still a long way off.

Personally, I would like to see a local group take it this far and set the record right that the raids being conducted are out of proportion to the so called crime. SWAT geared officers raiding a local club is simply a waste of taxpayers money and more a publicity stunt for law enforcement to make it appear that they are doing something in the public's eye.

Wait a minute!!! Skill? In poker?!?

I might have to adjust my game a little, if this is true . . .

In all seriousness, I may applaud the verdict in this case, and hope for more of the same in some of the upcoming cases, but I do not see any emancipation of poker in the offing on either side of the 49th. It is not in the nature of government to release controls it has acquired unto itself, especially not in this country. The only thing I can see swaying things is a club patron being killed by an antsy cop/thug during one of these P.R. farces

There was a similar ruling in PA about a month ago... I think they are using that case as a precedence for the others.

If all it ends up doing is to stop wasting the money spent on enforcing a ridiculous law, and the use of excessive force to do so, then I consider it a win.
