i agree, most of it is great, non-ante creates slow slow action at the higher blinds, but moose is right, they treat you well there, wish they still ran no limit omaha LOL
I'm thinking of playing tomorrow's tournament at Brantford (March 13). Anybody else? There are currently 23 players registered.
Is anybody interested in possibly carpooling to Brantford or future tournaments at Point Edward, Great Blue Heron or Casino Rama? I'll be coming from QEW Oakville.

Several forumers have played these and there is much better value in the local home games.
Uhh, I played the $500 tourney a while ago and it was literally one of the best value tournaments possible. Yes it's a turbo structure but it plays like a $26 online tourney at BEST.
Vekked, how do you decide which local tournaments to buy into instead of grinding online? I assume that like me, your online ROI is higher with much lower variance compared to spending the day driving to ~$200-$500 "donkaments" in Ontario.
A couple of my buddies are going to the four-day Blue Water Classic in Sarnia, and I can't decide if I should join them. I've become more comfortable playing 25 $26 online tourneys at home than risking $600+ in a live donkament where there is an ~80% chance I won't make the money.

In general for reasons Wetts said, I'll take a slightly lower EV live donkament over online just to switch it up and also cuz it's more fun (for me). But if it's a pretty significant difference I'll usually pass on the live tournament if I have to go out of my way to go.
It kind of depends on your bank roll and such but in general I'd pick a live donkament if it's near the top of what I'm rolled for. If I have 100k roll and there's a 1k donkament I'll go play as long as it's not like travel for a day and spend 2 nights on a hotel or something. I'd generally estimate my live ROI as double (maybe more in some cases?) my online ROI so if I can play 2k of online tournies in a year it's probably worth playing a 1k tourney as far as straight up $EV, but I might play a $750 or $800 just for the added fun EV. Also you have to factor in that you're going to bust early a bit of the time and will still be able to play a night schedule if that's your concern.
I was also thinking of grinding the Sarnia tourney, and I almost certainly would if I could play both days, but idk if that's possible and I don't think it's worth it to drive there and stay 2 nights only to potentially grind a couple hours if I busted early. I might call about it this weekend and see if I can book seats for both day 1s or something.

You can play both Day 1's. If you make Day 2 on both day 1's then you play whichever of your stack has the most chips, you can't play 2 seats on Day 2
