I have a horrible leak

I call to proove to myself that I'm right.

I realized this phenomenon the other night.

About a week ago I was at school with my laptop and I got into a discussion about poker with someone who was completely unexposed to online poker (well poker in general), and wanted to learn the game. So I booted up my pokerstars account and jumped on to a play money table to show him what it was about.
So up comes this hand... long story short, I know I'm ahead the whole way with top pair and kicker until the river puts an open ended straight draw on the board (2345)... the out of position opponet moves all in on the river.... I laugh and say to my friend, I gaurantee you he has the ace of hearts (there was 2 hearts on the flop, but thats it) - i say to my friend, 'i know im beat, i'll just call to proove a point" - sure enough he had the ace of hearts...
yadda yadda yadda

So the other night this hand comes up... I have aces and the flop is king high in a 3 way pot after a 4BB raise from me in the SB.... I bet 3/4of the pot on the flop and get called by one opponet... the turn is a birck... i fire half the pot (half his stack too, incidentally)... he calls...
at this point im sure he has a K, possibly with a weak kicker
the river comes a K
I check, he moves all in, which represented a fraction of the pot, but about 1/3 of my stack...
So I curse my luck but figure i have to call b/c of the size of the pot... but why? i know im beat....

however, for some sick and twisted reason i had to prove it to myself...
this is when i thoght of my play money encounter.... and I folded...

the guy showed KJ

if i can learn to trust these instincts, I think it would go far to plugging a big leak in my game

sorry if im rambling, just trying to help this make sense outside of my head

I know what youre talking about. Before in my limit ring games i'd always call when i thought i was beat just to see if i was right about what they held. I dont do it as much anymore, but sometimes.

I have a leak. I fold hands when I "know" I'm beat ignoring massive pot odds. I get bluffed off of big pots by people playing terrible poker. In the first hand it sounds like you can fold but I think you absolutely have to call in hand 2. He could have QQ, JJ, or maybe some other strange hands. With that much in the pot I think you have to accept that if he rivers you then so be itsince you the only reason you weren't all-in on the turn was so you don't scare him off.

Re: I have a horrible leak

I often will pay to see their cards, especially in low limit games, 5/10, not 10/20, 5/10 is like bingo in most casino's so you never no. I almost folded pocket kings, nothing was on the board, only me and my opponent, I on the button, he in the sb. I raised pre flop, he immediately reraised, I come back over and cap, like I said flop, turn and river was nothing substaintial, at this point his relentless betting, I could only play defense, convincing myself I was up against aces. on the river he bet, I raise to see, he reraises, I had to make a decision, I called just to see, He held pocket jacks.

Why raise? If all you want is to see, then all you need to do is call and save yourself 2 bets.
