Ya. I like the idea of a Canadian forum. Its cool. I love two plus two and have learned so much there but would also like a smaller forum to share ideas with and what not.
I've been checking things out here from time to time. It seems that a lot of you enjoy live poker more than online, and thats' cool. Personally, I enjoy live poker with my friends more for the social aspect but have never had the desire to go to a casino and grind $1/$2. I'd much rather sit at home with my tunes blaring, my fridge feet away, my laptop, my gf my cat, my dog and my kids and be able to run a session like this at 25nl.
Bit of a brag and definitely a fair bit better than my average day (I ran godly) which would be more like $150-$200 but so much less variance than a live $1-$2 game (i think... i mean one suck out at 1/2 live and thats 8 buy ins at 25nl rite?) .
For all of you that do prefer live I totally get it. Its a different beast for sure and there are different edges to be had and different adjustments to be made but think about how many more hands you could play and how much more experience you could gain if you could teach yourself to play a bunch of tables online when you're not able to go to the casino.

I'm currently playing on fulltilt, and have to say I have a love/hate relationship with online. On the one hand, I've currently built up $10 to $35 with a lot of tilt involved - but it's fun. Am slowly, slowly, trying to build it up some more for bigger cash games. And plus, I would have never fallen in love with games like PLO or Razz if it wasn't for online, can say that's for certain.
But then again, being only 20 myself - have never been in a live tournament of any kind. Have always wanted to ever since I was like 14 o_O so that's my goal xD
I plan on sticking here as well. So it's on you guys to stay active, I'll be doing my part.

Regarding live vs online, even though I think the general consensus is that online is a lot tougher than live, I still prefer online for many of the reasons you mentioned. I was playing nl25, but got my soul crushed in a very large downswing which involved a lot of bad play and a lot of bad beats. Now grinding back up in nl10 which seems to be playing alot different than nl25....

I play 24 tables and get around 1500 hands per hour in. I've tried mass tabling 6max but don't feel my edge is so good because most regs are playing less tables and there is a lot more 3betting and post flop aggression. Regs at nitreg are playing narrower ranges so hand reading/ counting combos and estimating equity becomes a lot easier. Not only that its just easier to get nitring regs to fold.
Fish at fr and 6max are pretty much the same thing though. Many of them bounce around from NL to PLO to 6m HU and sng's and play a wide range of stakes so I don't think that there is much difference between the fish at FR and 6max.
I like mass tabling because the long run comes so much quicker. Whenever you make adjustments to your game you realize the effects so much quicker time wise. Tracking software is so much more useful when you have a larger database. Its also nice to plough through a period of run bad in a few days rather than a few weeks too.
My head would explode . . . it is all I can do to play reasonably on two tables, and plenty of people here will tell you that I am pushing things with 1.

i really like live action, be it a home game..1/2 at a "club"..or casino...i,m glad poker stars have the home games..i belong to 5..otherwise i wouldn,t play online..i know that i may sound delusional , paranoid or cynical, but i just dont trust the integrity of online poker.............too many Justin Bonomo,s and Sorel Mizzi,s out there..let alone all the guys who play in the micros who think playing bad poker is more fun..

I kinda loled at this myself. I guess the forum auto subscriibes me by email notification to this thread and it goes to my blackberry. I saw the message on my phone while I was depositing my $1k cheque from stars at the bank. I loled, the teller and my gf asked me what it was all about and I just said it was nothing
Most of the micros these days are tougher than 1/2 live anyways, unless ur talking 5nl. 1/2 live gets the enjoyment of being the lowest offered limit at most casinos. You would think there are far more players that think its fun to play bad as you put it live than online.

it,s okay to make funof me...but i sharkscoped myself and i am on super tilt..playing 3 and 5$ sitngo,s....i have a terrible record...but live im not bad....i won a 500$ buy in at brantford, and made the final table the next one....cashed a few times in the Orangeville tourneys..finished 2nd in one of Steve Kerr,s...my one and only time there...but for the life of me i cant get the hang of online poker, so yes..maybe i play better against better players....and i really dont know why...
I think that its really difficult to compare results from live to online and draw any meaningful conclusions for the simple fact that it would probably take years of grinding live to be able to say with a reasonable amount of confidence that "I am actually a winning player and haven't been luckboxing these tourneys". It works the other way too. I don't know how much volume you've put in online, but from your posts I suspect that it isn't enough to say you're not good at that either. You could have just been running bad.
I get where you're coming from though and trust me you're not alone. So many players complain about how playing against unpredictable donkeys is harder than playing against a good player, and to some degree this is correct.
If you play against a player that only plays AA and folds against everything else then that player is going to be incredibly easy to play perfectly against. Playing against a player who bluffs with air a lot, but also raises flops or turns with any made hand or draw can be more difficult because you can't seem to put them on a hand. Unlike the guy that always has AA - or a tighter player that you can at least narrow them down to a few logical holdings. The important thing to remember though, is that the guy playing all kinds of hands in weird ways is going to pay you off a lot. Don't try to figure what he has, just put him on wide range and be prepared to play bigger pots with weaker hands. If you're tighter than he is then you will on average have a stronger hand than he will. It'll be higher variance for sure, but in the end you'll wind up making more money off of loose players than you will from somebody who just keeps folding over and over again.

Apologize for questioning your online stats, it's just that if I had a nickel for every newb who came on here with absurd claims of massive profits I would have already retired.. I may have thought you were related to a certain fed guy, obviously not..
Still don't know how you (or anyone) can play that many tables without going completely nutso though....
