Math and Poker skills - Where do I go from here?

Hey everyone,

So I took it upon myself to learn some of the basic rules of hold'em math. What have I learned so far?
Well, pot odds, implied odds, and the probability of making a specific hand after the flop for the turn and river. Anyways, I just wanted to ask, what's next? I've been hearing alot about expected value - which just sounds like pot odds to me. Any thoughts? As well, is there any math that deals specifically with pre flop hold'em - chances of getting dealt a specific hand? How much one should bet with a pocket pair, etc? Any thoughts or direction would be helpful.

All The Best,
Toronto.

Hmm, fairly interesting topic.Â* I honestly am not at all a math guy so I really have nothing to add to this thread other then a welcome to the forum (even though you joined over 800 members ago)!

Read "The Theory of Poker" by David Sklansky, among other things...

Make sure to visit the publisher's website.... www.twoplustwo.com
They have loads of sick info on there....

Any skalansky book is good, winning in low limit holdem, theory of poker, and advanced holdem, these are books every player should read at some point, puts your game into perspective.
