| Movie - Awesome Poker Related Movie
Hey, everyone.
Just saw and awesome movie last night. The name is 'Finder Fee' and it stars James Earl Jones and Dr. Dave from ER (I don't know his
name but you'll recognize him).
The movie is about a guy who finds a wallet with a winning lottery ticket. Does the right thing and calls the owner of the wallet and lets him know his address. But then finds out the 6 million dollar winning ticket was in the wallet.
The whole movie revolves around a poker game for the lottery tickets, and is a dialog based movie like Reservoir Dogs.
Alot of twists and turns.
I did a google search and it was a film festival winner.
It is on TMN on Demand right now and It's probably available at BB or Rogers.

Well no nudity and a little violence and a little poker.Â* Good for a Sunday afternoon.Â* IÂ* liked it but then again I love B movies.
I figured it out at theÂ* start, but still enjoyed it.

GTA, why did you hate it?
The premise is easily summised from the beginning, however I felt the dialogue of the characters made the movie.
No nudity, no explosions and no car crashes; if that's a requirement for your movie picks, then don't bother with this one.
However, if you enjoy movies like Resovoir Dogs, Six Degrees of Sepration or Very Bad Things, then you'll enjoy this movie.
Magi, what are the requirements for a movie to get the B classification?I thought typically the had no production value (single camera angle), limited plot, and limited dialogue, and a good one was when through all of that you get the actors either being extremely cheezy or extremely good.
Maybe Im a B movie fan?

IMO, nudity and violence are not required to make a good movie. However, just about any movie is fun if there's lots of nudity and violence. So, if you're making a bad movie, remember to throw in the t&a, violence and ah heck, lots of swearing.
Why "B" movie, IMO? Well, predictable disjointed story, bad sets, lighting, sound and acting. I predicted the story as soon as the guy made the phone call. There was little flow and I thought the acting was bad -- cop, friends and even James Earl Jones. I don't mind dialogue movies, but it has to either be really fun or thought provoking (big chill like). There was neither in this movie.
So, it's more of a "B" movie for me. I liked it though -- the psycho unlimited friend was fun and it was fun watching the actors muddle through the story. And, there was room for more nudity -- start of the story with the girlfriend. And, they could have had a flashback to some great sex where the main character is struggling to figure out if it's just great sex or real love. You get some sex and some thought all in the same shot. And, there was room for violence when James Earl Jone takes a bottle in the side of the head. I'm thinking more of a knife scene -- this is New York after all. Sheesh, I should be making movies.
Cheers

Why?
Awful acting, obvioius ending -- you are comparing this to resevoir dogs?
I love dialogue-type movies if they are good -- this is not.
See Glenngarry Glen Ross for what a movie like this should be.

I have TMN ON DEMAND and went and watched this movie after reading this thread and I would call it a definite "B" movie.
I wasnt bad, I enjoyed it, didnt feel like I wasted 1 1/2hrs of my life I'll never get back but i alsoo wouldnt reccomend anyone to go out of their way to see it either. More like if its on tv and your playing a little online poker and dont feel like multi-tabling, watch this movie at the same time to relieve the boredom.
Dialogue based movies with great acting include "Resovior Dogs", "Glenngarry Glen Ross", "Six Degrees of Separation", "Playing by Heart".

I will add that it was written and directed by Jeff "Surviror Host" Probst.
I didn't find it to a gem but it wasn't too bad. I didn't hate it. It had a lot of promise.

lol i saw this on tmn on demand yetserday, its not a bad movie, but what I don't get about the ending is how did the real guy come to the door saying that he left a message with his brother-in-law viktor, if victor planned on scamming him like this, than he surely wouldn't tell his brother-in-law that somebody found his wallet rite?? so i guess james earl jones was not viktor and somehow got hold of victor's phone and knows how to access his phone messages |
