Punta Cana

Hey all,
travelling to Punta Cana next week and wondered if anyone in here has played in one of the casino's down there? The only one that I can see that has a decent room seems to be Hard Rock.

Any feedback would be appreciated.

Hard Rock

Is a casino,
The others are wanna be casinos with a few slots, many don't work and a handful of tables.
Been to DR 5 times, The Casino at Coral Caribe in Juan Dolio had a game similar to hold'em, but that is the only one I saw it at. Have not been to Hard Rock (YET!) Going for 2 weeks end of February. Will keep you posted

There are many better islands to go to in the Caribbean if you want to play poker

I'm not going on vacation to play poker, going to enjoy the place and sun, just thought I might try it while down there if anyone said it was worth while.

The resort casinos, as opposed to casinos in resort areas, I have been to were not great. I am talking about the rinky dink ones that seem like an afterthought so as to milk that little bit extra out of the tourists. You get up a hundo playing $5.00 Blackjack, and suddenly the table closes, BS like that.

Hard Rock has hold'em poker that is just like playing poker in any Canadian Casino. Hard Rock also has a nice Sports Book with Vegas style betting.
Any other casino I've seen in Punta Cana is a dive....Poker games have crazy rakes and less then desirable game set ups...5/5 NL games and everyone is playing with $60 or $80 bucks in front of them!
