The rank of the three of a kind part of a full house takes precedence.

The pairs would be used if the three of a kind parts were identical. For example, 66644 beats 66633.

Did the fight over this ruling at your home game get rowdy?

Re: Quick question

I hate my life....

I'm so stupid...why did not i think about that....

I have 6/6 and flop comes 674 and i go all in and someone with AA calls

then 4 on the turn and 4 on the river

at first i thought split pot...then everybody said he took it and i did not even think about it at the time. IT was a free tournament but would put make me a chip leader. (Red hot poker tour)

Once i was in the car i realized that i won....argggggg

Re: Quick question

No-one who was watching the hand knew how to determine the winning hand in this example?

It's not the simplest board to read of course, but you'd think that somebody in charge of the tournament could have been brought in to verify (or correct) the ruling at the table.

oh i know...everybody was kind of confused and we did have 8 players on the table and nobody saw it. I dont know...it was not even questioned so Its my fault at the end.

OH well..this will teach me to watch out for things like that next time.

Re: Quick question

a lot of decks of cards have those little helpers which list the hand ranks. Might want to have one of those handy for arguements..and of course there is here. With simple questions like that you should get 1-1001 responses within minutes.

Re: Quick question

Think of 66644 as sixes full (of fours) the fours part doesn't matter, unless somebody has 66688 then its sixes full of eights. 66688 beats 66644. 444AA is fours full of aces. sixes full beats fours full. Simple? simple.

Unfortunately no. This was online for real money. Had it been Anthony and was for skittles then I'd just chalk it up to his normal thought process on how to play a low pair.

Re: Quick question

Something like this happen to my wife once at Rama. One guy had an Ace high flush while she had a straight flush. They both flipped their hands over and the dealer said Ace high flush and was about to move the chips over to him when 1/2 the table started yelling and point at the straight flush. The deal recognized his error had to call the pit boss over and then awarded the pot to my wife.

BTW the board was something like J 10 9 8 and she had the Q

LOL - I love that!Â* The one guy who thinks the best starting hands are A-A followed by 7-2 offsuit.Â* I've heard about your skittle-games, wish I worked there (sorry Andrew) for lunch hours (but ONLY for lunch hours ).

The use of skittles is great. They are a durable candy that can take a lot of abuse (except for moisture ... get em wet and it's brutal). We only allow skittles from the red bag to be used. No hitting the bulk barn and inflating your stack. Each day you bring 100 points to the table. Recently we've relaxed the rebuys (because ANTHONY has suckout horse shoes shoved so far up his arse ... if we have the opportunity to take his skittles, we do).

The skittle poker games can get a bit silly but it's a time where you can try out things that you normally would not. Wanna see why you shouldn't chase that straight or flush? It's only skittles, go ahead. We've had a few people last only one hand (*cough* zithal *cough*) and had people go on incredible runs and hit every freaking card imaginable ("oh look, I have the red flower and a shovel ... I win again").

It also gives us a bit of an opportunity to stop and ask why someone did what they did so we can all understand the game that much more. That's why I liked it when we would get together with Lou and talk about stuff.

Re: Quick question

One day when you have a chance Beanie you should come for lunch time skittle poker. I'll sign you in and show you my suckout skillz. Though 33 isn't really my style, I much prefer 22 and 72o :-)

Re: Quick question

I think we are seriously off topic now.

A warning to all - when there is two on the board and Anthony is in the pot, get out.
