rEVENGE Is Sweet - Or is it??

I was at a cash game the other night, and the guy to my left started telling me he had a grudge against a certain player at the table because he had sucked out on him a little earlier. He said he was now targeting this guy because of this. To me this is an easy way to lose your money if you are specifically targeting a single player at the table.

Have you ever targeted a player at your table and rEVENGE was on your side? Or has it backfired and come back to bite you in the A$$.

Given an opportunity to get the guy who sucked out on me, I would try to anyway, but specifically target just that one player?

I like to think that my reads are getting better on all the players on a table and I try to change my game to meet that particular opponent.

Yes, I have been b***ch slapped for being overly aggressively at the wrong time, but I am getting better at telling myself I was ahead, and I wouldn't have changed a thing I did. Once the chips are in, its in the hands of fate.

Revenge IS sweet, but Karma is a bitch. Have always found that if you "go after" one player in particular you end up on the wrong end of the karmic equation. Play well, and an opportunity will present.

personally, i enjoy trying to get at least one of the more poor players at the table to target me. makes getting their chips just that much easier. granted i only do this online since it usually requires me trash talking them in the chat window

I think it usually ends up backfiring. You start making more irradic plays with marginal hands and eventually get caught in an all-in situation.

I want chips at the end of the night, in a cash game I want more than I sat with, in a tourney I want them all. I hate the idea of chasing a player trying to exact some revenge on a suckout. Just suck it up and remember it's likely he'll be dumping those chips off to other players so even if you don't take them from him, when you take them from the other players at the table and when you do, you are taking a small piece of the guy who you wanted revenge against.
