Merry Christmas all. Sitting here at work (sucks) and am having a total brain fart (could be the wine from last night  ). Am trying to figure out the formula for ROI.... I've been on a bit of a tear lately and and am up nicely... For an ROI example can use my gain from yesterday.... Played 4 x $5.50 SNGs on FTP ($22) and won one and came third in one for at return of $31. Is it 22 divided by 31  ?
Thanks for the help.... Math, wine, a late night and working on Christmas Day don't mix well

Figured it out...... I hate wine hangovers.... For those interested in the formula...
(31-22) divided by 22 = .41 or a 41% ROI.
Now to figure out the monthly ROI.......

The formula for Return On Investment is
Profit / Investment
= (31 - 22) / 31 = 9 / 31 = 29%.
To give you an example of a negative ROI, I spent $16.40 on an online rebuy satellite and didn't win an entry but got a silly bubble prize of $1.04 which is less than the initial buy-in,  so my ROI is
$(1.04 - 16.40) / $16.40 = -$15.36 / $16.40 = -94%.  Quote:

Note that SharkScope has been covering a lot more than SNGs. For example, it includes satellites, rebuys and even freerolls for PartyPoker, Full Tilt and three other sites.
On OPR, I am listed as having played only 24 games with an ROI of -79%. On PokerDB, I only have 17 games. I've only played one SNG at PartyPoker, but SharkScope has over 400 of my tournaments! Quote:

| Offcial Poker Ratings
I noticed that someone made reference to a site called Official Poker Ratings, so I went there to see if I was listed. I was, and it's surprising how much info they provide. As I said in a previous post, I'm definitely a Hold 'em rookie and usually only play micro SnG's (while I learn the game). I was shocked to see that I've play in just over 300 of these small stakes (0.10 to 1.10) SnG's and even more surprised to see that my ROI is listed at 123%. I've been in the money 62 of 303 times I've played (or approximately 20% of the time).
Those seem like good numbers to me, and if they are, I didn't post this to brag. Actually, I have a question. If these number are as good as I think they might be, should I move up to higher stakes tourneys or am I only likely having some success because the competition is so bad in these little cheapie SnG's? In other words, does the caliber of competition move up substantially in the $2.20 to 4.40$ SnG's or can I generally expect to face the same type of weak players? I know SnS's in this price range are pretty small beans in the world of poker, but poker is a hobby for me, and I (at the moment) have no desire to play big stakes games.

| Take a shot at the next higher stakes. If you are losing and can't figure out how to beat that level, move back down. In December, I started online at 2¢/4¢ cash games, $1 rebuys and $6 MTTs, and just kept moving on up.

So, I guess you're saying that the quality of player won't be much better at in the $2.20 and $4.40, and I should (assuming I don't change my play style) do just or almost as well there, ya?
