Ok. PF.ca has been around for quite a few years now and like all good forums, theres some great information in the past that has been lost. Last year we had beanie's top 10 that helped point out some of the better threads. I'd like to start this thread as a <hopeful> sticky that can keep track of good discussions we've had in the past.
Maybe everyone can look in their past and respond with their own favorites?
I do this to remind us about what good discussions look like. None of this 'Should I raise AK preflop shit' but questions and comments about the difficult decisions of poker.
Great idea - sticky this! I'll post a few of my favorites soon...

I think it might have something to do with the degree to which the Search function on the new forum sucks balls. I can think of a bunch of threads worth linking, but I just can't find em.
Disclaimer: I don't necessarily agree with the lines, I just find the actual discussion a breath of (old) fresh air. Probably because no-one plays LHE anymore (sigh).
After reading some of the information, I have come to the conclusion that there is too much information out there. If nothing else I have learned that most players have their own style, and the more information you read the harder the game actually gets. You need to develop your own niche as a player, whatever style that is, you can't be someone else. This isn't a sport where the more you practice the better you are at playing that sport, how many ways can you hit a golfball, or throw a basketball or football or swing at a baseball. My point is, the more hands of poker you play, the more you should begin to understand how important it is to understand the table, the players you are playing with or against, and how you are going to adapt to that table or how that table is going to adapt to you.

True... that is definitely something I overlook some times. Very good point, you do need to constantly adapt. Welcome to the site!

You can't have too much information. What you can have, though, is trouble processing the information at the rate at which it's arriving. You are right that if you allow yourself to get overwhelmed by everything everyone says, you'll land up in the gutter.
But I mean, todays world is prettymuch based on information gathering and filtering. We do it a bazillion times a day as it is. Think about it. When you were watching lost last night, What was the last commerical you saw? Can't remember eh?
Anyway, you are correct. Your job as a learned poker player is to gather the facts and figure out how to turn that into your own style.
FWIW, good 5th post.
