I have yet to hear or read anything about this incident. Voodoo, you have any more info, or maybe a link or something? Anybody else even hear of this place?

I haven't heard anything, nor did I know of this club. However having worked as an inspector for the old city of york, that was my area it isn't exactly the best of neighbourhoods. Wouldn't surprise me in that area.

Unfortunately there is no link as this came from a couple of friends. I did speak to another person that is associated with the Riverroom and he was aware of what had happened and added that he knew of one person that was pistol whipped. A bad situation but that place never had the right security in place for the players.
Acidjoe is bang on that the area isn't the greatest for an underground, its just up the street from Commisso's if anyone has been there for a late night meal.

I knew about the $300 tournament at The Farm last Sunday. It's a good thing I went to Fallsview Casino instead!

The place is effectively closed I have been told, the owner figures whats the use in trying to reopen. As far as names Zapps was there fresh off his 25th place the day previous at the WPT Niagara. A couple others would rather not have it mentioned.
As a side note it does seem odd that it would get robbed on probably the only day that place had a boat load of cash floating around. Its a much smaller club then some that are around.

im new to the poker scene, i only play at home, and in my buddies garage...lol. i never knew these places existed. i would think that these places should at the very least have double steel doors with a man trap. and cameras to see who is there. metal detectors would work as well.
my company sells stuff like this if anyone has a club. cameras, digital recording systems, and alarm monitoring. we will beat any price in the city. www.shadowinternational.com
tell them frank 2866 sent you.

I heard of another robbery a couple of months ago. There was a high stakes game in Toronto, but there was no security. The gunmen took HUGE amounts of cash, jewellery, etc. One guy handed over his Rolex but did not want to give up his wedding ring, and was pistol-whipped. Just like The Farm, the owner did not report it to the police.
I am surprised at how some of the illegal raked events have so little security that cops and robbers can just walk in at any time.

Interesting point...what would be sufficient security?
Would video cameras be enough to discourage, or would you need some 350lbs monster with a glock standing at the door, padding everyone down as they came in?
I know some places have cameras and locked doors to prevent entry, but is it enough?

There is no such thing as enough. If people want to get in for whatever, and if they believe it's worth it to them they will. Armed guards at banks don't stop bank robberies so don't expect these type of things to go away because of camera's or one gorillia
