You leave when your clothes stink so bad that no one will sit beside you..... now seriously, it all depends, if your up and the table dynamics have changed that make it no longer beatable you leave.
I never set a time limit but I look at things like if I'm getting crap cards, have a tight table image and stack a guy with a decent hand I know I'm really not going to get action. Time to ride the rush (or pretend too) then go.
If I've been mucking around in a lot of flops and hitting large, I stay until I feel like going. If I have gotten hit large and lost 2 or 3 buy ins I"m gone regardless of how long I've been there.
As with most things in poker "it depends"
