Where to start. Returning player

Hi there,

I used to play Texas Hold'em years and years ago. Now I finally decided to start again. This time more online than live. I've forgotten about nearly everything I learned (odds, bankroll, strategies ... ).

I'll make it short. What books can you guys recommend to get into Poker again? The book(s) should include strategy's, odd calculation, all the other calculations, bankroll management.....Basically all the things a Poker player needs to know to successfully fight his way up.

I relocated from Europe to Canada this year. Hello . This leads to my next question:
On which online Poker portals do Canada players play? Are all sites legal in Canada? Which one can you suggest?
(In Europe all sites are legal)

I hope that's it for the moment.

Thanks

Oh, this will not end well . . .

As for literature, I would recommend Phil Hellmuth's Play Poker Like the Pros. Phil has won 11 WSOP bracelets, all of them in NLHE. He also played like a beast at this years WSOP, with 3 second place finishes, among other cashes.
Hobbes and piggypie123 like this.

Yeah I did. And I don't regret it at all.

Thanks for the answers.
I guess I'll stick with Pokerstars. Still not sure about the literature though....

The only thing about Canada that you have to worry about is that alot of major banks here dont allow credit card transactions for gambling. I think Royal bank is the only one that allows it? You can always get a prepaid credit card from any retail store.Good luck dude and welcome....

My BMO Mastercard allows me to deposit . . . far too many times, if the truth be known. LOL

Both my scotiabank visa and my TD visa dont allow it. The only reason i got a TD visa was for poker since scotia wouldnt allow it.Then TD brought the same policy in. Fkn stupid..lol

It really depends on the time of day you are playing and against what other countries. Also, and Compuease can help me here, there is a way to configure your computer so that the clock tricks the RNG into thinking you haven't won a hand and lets you win like three in a row.

On a more serious note, the Harrington on Holdem series are very good books on tournament play.

Oh and welcome back to Canada !!

Moshman's book on SnG play is well thought of, though it might be considered dated. Just ordered Phil Shaw's SnG book . . .
