.25/50 Oakville On Sat Oct 22nd 8PM - 2ish

Hi All,

Hosting regularly (2x a month) until May. Next game is this Saturday and it looks like we have 14 players. I will be running 2 tables, 1 is .25/50 ($50 max buy-in)and the other is .10/20 ($20 max buy-in). Milo is coming so I hope he can post up a review after. No rake and just a good game with good people!

It was nice finally meeting Str82Ace, Milo, Moose, and Compuease in person at the Royal Cup. Compuease, small world, hunh?

Runner Runner Poker Room . . .

Okay, so I met King Thor at the Royal, as did a few others on the Forum. Nice enough guy, as most of us are, and he invites me to his home for tonight's action. He lives in Oakville (Bronte/407 area), so it's about a half hour to 40 minutes for me to get there. KT is trying to start a fresh game after moving his family into their new digs earlier this year. I gather his regular game was in T.O. but he can confirm/correct that. Start time of 8:00 p.m. was delayed because the majority of players were coming from T.O. and the Gardiner is closed this weekend . . . what would a game be without some sort of hiccup, right?

Anyway, the basement has graciously been donated by KT's wife for our pleasure and usage and, though unfinished, you will not be disappointed. There is enough space for 5 tables, plus an eventual bar and other amenities. Currently there are two tables available. Secondary table was running a $0.10/$0.20 NLHE while the main table was running $0.25/$0.50 NLHE. Max buy-ins were $20.00 and $50.00 respectively, though the main table bumped that to $60.00 after some early action. A word about the equipment . . . casino grade BCC chips for both tables, Modiano and Desjgn cards in play, and the main table featured chairs that would not have been out of place in the board room on Celebrity Apprentice. No word of a lie, I could have fallen asleep in one of those babies. Don't know what he paid for them, but anything below $300.00 each was a STEAL. I have never been so comfortable at a card table. Also, a Shuffletech was in use at the main table. Did not get a chance to play at the other table, but the main game featured a decent mix of players . . . interweb types, gamblers, and an old bald dude some of you might have recognized. I will assume that the other table was similar in compostion. Snacks were on a side table for the taking, and a fridge was stocked with water and pop for all to indulge. Adult beverages were at the player's discretion (BYOB). All in all a very welcoming and friendly place to play. When KT manages to start implementing some of the ideas we discussed before play started, this venue will only improve. Right now it is strictly cash games, including a couple orbits of Omaha, but King Thor is looking to expand that to include multiple types of games, and eventually tournaments, as well. Any forum member would be well served to take advantage of an invitation to play at the Runner Runner Room.

Oh, and in case the Trip Report was not clear enough, thanks to King Thor for the invite, the hospitality, and the game. Will be back for more.

Thanks for the kind words! Glad you had a good time. Do you recognize this guy smashing my home game?

Yup, just not used to seeing him with that many chips in front of his seat. Thanks for the pic . . . if anyone cares, those are (L to R) $0.25, $1.00, and $5.00 chips in standard stacks. At this point in the evening there were about 15 - 20 buy-ins on the table. Love to see some of the other pix from last night.

sounds like a good game to be at. Also interested in attending some time.

P.S. that was good of the players at the table to loan Milo some props for the shot

+1 to Milo's post. The only other thing I would add is that the people at the game are great to play with. Not a lot of drama and everyone is very respectful of KT's hospitality. Good mix of players.

I'm been at other home games where half (or more) of the players are stoned and/or rude/high-strung (esp over bad beats), but none of that at KT's.

KT has a reasonably rigorous player vetting policy and it's one of the drawing features for me.

Can't be that rigorous if he let's Milo in...

Will definitely give this a try when I get a chance.

Well, that and the seemingly unending appearance of high pairs in your hand . . .

Up yours, comp.

Thanks DCX. I want to keep it this way. For players interested in joining please PM me and then we can setup a face to face meeting. Also, it turns out Compuease was my next door neighbour for almost 20 years in Milton and I grew up with his kids, so yeah, he's good!

I should add if you are looking to play cards with a group of professionals between the ages of 25-50, enjoy a nice relaxed environment, making new friends, just chilling out, and playing at stakes that are comfortable, this game is for you. Please PM me to setup a meeting,

If you are loud, obnoxious, plan on getting drunk/stoned, are aggressive, will go on tilt after getting a bad beat, treat other people's property like crap or are abusive, then the games posted above or below me are for you...
