Sunday Jan 15 7:00 PM $225+25+10 Super Satellite
Tuesday Jan 17 6:00 PM $500+50+10 PLO
Wednesday Jan 18 6:00 PM $225+25+10 Super Satellite
Thursday Jan 19 6:00 PM $500+50+10 NLH Day 1A
Friday Jan 20 2:00 PM $500+50+10 NLH Day 1B
Saturday Jan 21 2:00 PM $2000+250+10 NLH
Sunday Jan 22 -12:00 PM $500+50+10 NLH Day 2
Sunday Jan 22 -2:00 PM $300+30+10 NLH
They really expect people to show up for a $2k tourney in the middle of winter in Edmonton? The rake for the 2k is pretty ridiculous. As the buy in increases, the rake should decrease....especially since the tournament will probably take less table/dealer hours than the $550. Even if you sign up early and get back the $100 in meal card...$100 cash >>> $100 meal card.

i agree with the 2k event, i doubt they will get many, they should put it to a 1k with less rake

What else is there to do in Edmonton in the winter? Degens gonna degen, no?
Why are you complaining about the rake on the 2k when it is a higher percentage on the $225 and the $300?
Does the difference between a 12% and 13.5% rake make that much of a difference to you?

As for the 2k event, agree about the rake.....but that's always been done here unfortunately.
Years past, it used to be a 1.5k as the standard main event.....the last couple years down to 1k. I'm not surprised to see them try something different.
I think the turnout will be decent, as in general, someone who comes for a 1 or 1.5k, will still come for a 2k. I wouldn't buy in directly, but will try to satty in, same as I'd do for a 1 or 1.5k.
But let's get back to the important part......there's a PLO, and it's not on the Sunday (I think that's a first)

So the $500+50+10 has a 10% rake, but a buy-in 4 times higher has a 12.5% rake. Does this make any sense to anybody? Especially when they make the $500 a two day event (1A/1B + final day), which will require more time/effort than a $2k.
If the pokerrooms want to expand and increase traffic overtime, they must make the players feel wanted/appreciated. The difference in rake does make a difference to me.
I don't like feeling getting ripped off. I don't care if it's for a $1 or $10000. I hate that feeling. I'm not going to support an event if I feel this way. I can afford it and I'm sure I have an huge edge in the tournament, but I'll spend my money elsewhere if I feel this way. Quote:

I'm ignoring bonus chips...as they're suppose to be for the dealers...and should be considered differently from portion the house's takes. Regardless, your comments are unfounded.

I'll try to question someone of authority next time there.

Text Room manger, just to clarify, the $100 meal card can also be $100 towards hotel, which is as good as cash, so the rake would be $150 (in theory) for those that are serious about coming in from out of town. Meal card is not worthless either for those that are local.
I get that just charging $150 would be better Recieved, but they obviously trying to encourage action through incentive it's a better effort than many other venues offer.
WSOP gives $10 meal card right?
18,000 plus 2000 add-on for $10 starting chips, 45 minute levels for first 3, then 60. This 1k typically ran 14-16 hours... this will have a ton of play.
Trophy and bracelet for both the $500 and $2000 events.
Buffet/meal will be provided for all events except the super-sats (which will award seats to 2k instead of 1 $500 and 1 $1000 as previously)
So yes, bit of extra juice, but all the elements of a first class event are there.

The bottom line is, they are charging more for rake in a 2K event than they are for a 500 event percentage wise.
This is literally one of the stupidest things I've seen a casino do.

I won't bother trying then....you know I like the management and don't find this any different than the heft juice Deerfoot charges on their Deepstacks...with out the possible rebate Or other perks.
On a side note, guess they have had steady 25/50 action for last few weeks, so safe to assume the juicy cash games some are looking for should be around...
I am planning on coming up in April again, for Yellowhead, tradition now.
Will keep an eye on this one to see how it turns out though
