To find out about poker room rates, the best way is to call the individual casinos (normally their toll free phone numbers work from Canada too). Ask them how much the poker rate is, and what the requirements are in terms of poker play.
Sometimes getting rated for your poker play is something as simple as telling the floor/brush you are on a poker room rate when you start playing. Sometimes you'll need to swipe a frequent player card. If you want to play in a tournament, ask if that counts or not.
For general information about comps in Vegas, check out www.cheapovegas.com
They have some information on what sorts of players get comps (i.e. how much you need to bet). If you want comps other than at poker, the best thing to do is to ask at the table as to what the comp rating standard is.
