It would be a better deal to stay home than stay in most of the places listed.

Call me cheap, but I'm all about price. I'm only in the room to s/s/s and sleep.

I've driven down to Vegas quite a few times (great drive down....shitty ride home), and if you have a vehicle, off strip locations are definately the best VFM.

Stayed at the Palace Station last spring for $30 / night. Room was newly reno'd, 42" plasma. Not the biggest room, but suited my needs good. A vehicle is a must for this hotel.

Stayed at the Riv, Sahara, Strat, Circus Circus, Imperial Palace, Royal....and a few places that are no more.

Was thinking about checking the Tuscany out sometime when I fly down, as you want to be closer to strip then.

Oh, and the hookers are less $$$ at the cheaper hotels.

New Westjet Vacations offer

If you book at room at the Mirage properties (including MGM) for minimum of three nights, they are offering a free ticket to the KA or O Cirque shows (around a $100US value each). Considering a four night stay is around $490CDN right now, that's a great offer.

Or just get a room for $50 each and just pay for the tickets. (unless you're there over the weekend and that offer is still available)

I object to this being called 'ding ding' I thought somebody had won something.(like 'ding ding ding')

I'm disappointed that it is just more nickel and diming.

Free Airfare deal - Harrahs

Another decent offer, although the deal seems to specify that when you return (on the airfare voucher), you have to stay at one of the Harrah properties. Not sure if they will bump up the hotel cost to cover the airfare coupon. Anyone use this deal in the past?

Here's something I took advantage of a few times during my visit.

Hard Rock Casino Poker Room Daily Freeroll:

Play 1 hour in live cash game (usually only 1-2NL 100-300) between the hours of 05:00 & 11:00, and qualify for daily $1000 freeroll at 11:00. They will open another table if one isn't available.

Basically, I would show up at 09:45, play until 11, then play freeroll.

1500 chips for freeroll, or pay $10 for 2000 additional chips. 15 minute blinds, and they go up quick. Anywhere from 9 - 30 players, always pays top 4, usually takes about 3 hours to finish.

For those going for a short period of time, it might not work, but I was there 2 weeks, so I attended quite a few days during my visit.

PS: if you're there for a US long weekend, play cash game Sunday morning. Their pool party (REHAB) is rediculous. Huge lineups (1000+) of bikini clad super goddesses everywhere trying to get into the pool. Lineup goes right past the poker room. Wasn't quite as good the next Sunday.

I usually end up going at the end of August and always seem to find a decent price for on the strip. I Always go Sunday(6am Flight) - Friday(10pm Flight...home Saturday).

Stayed at(Price is Flight and Hotel):

Stratosphere x2 - $420
Monte Carlo - $475
MGM - $700 (Parents paid for that but if I booked earlier would have been $550 and that was upgraded Suite)
Venetian - $630

Planet Hollywood - $450 but that was in May for Sunday-Thursday but same flight times

For those who don't mind paying a little bit:

We offer suite rates for poker players who are interested in staying at either The Venetian or The Palazzo. These rates are $119 for Sunday through Thursday nights and $159 for Friday and Saturday nights, provided that you play an average of at least 6 hours of poker per night stayed.

In order to qualify for these rates, the first step is to book your suite through either The Venetian or The Palazzo (no third party booking such as Travelocity). Make sure that the suite you book is less than $400 for Sunday through Thursday nights, and $500 for Friday and Saturday nights, otherwise we will be unable to reduce your suite rate.

When you arrive, sign up for a player’s card either at Club Grazie (located in The Venetian or The Palazzo), or in the poker room itself. This card will be able to track how many hours you have played poker. In addition, the player’s card will earn you $1 to $1.50 in food comps per hour played. These food comps are redeemable at many different restaurants throughout The Venetian, including In-Suite dining, which can be served table side while you play.

Provided that you play an average of at least 6 hours of cash games per night stayed, you will qualify for the reduced player’s rate. Before you check out, stop by the poker room and speak to a supervisor. This supervisor will look at your account and ensure that you completed the requisite hours. Then, they will call the front desk and have your suite rate adjusted to the quoted rates, such that when you go to check out, those changes will be reflected.

Lastly, any upgrades you have on a suite will have to be paid in addition to the poker rate. In other words, if you booked your suite for $300 for a Tuesday night and you are offered a $50 upgrade charge, even though the total for your suite is still less than $400, we can only reduce the original booking to $119, and the $50 upgrade charge will have to be added on top of that, for a total of $169.

Great bump. This should get a sticky, or somehow be placed in a particular area with a place of prominence for additions.
