| Playground Poker Club NLH Poker and NHL Icon event
I am admittedly far from a big hockey fan, save collecting stickers in my youth.
When they first announced this I thought, "Well, we know who some of the locals they know are, will it be all they are making it out to be?"
I have to say the line up announced to date is pretty impressive. Every poker pro so far, except maybe Jennicide, who can definetly slay the game, has a bracelet or major title.
As for the hockey players, I have been asking the non poker people at work about the names and almost everyone has responded, "Yes, he was/is a legend.
For those that are obsessed with both sports/games, I think this is going to be pretty big deal.
What do people think of how it has all been put together?
Before GTA starts, other than the fact that I helped build their Facebook page originally, I have no involvement with PPC what so ever, so not attempting to spam here, I just know some guys really like hockey and obviously...poker Playground Poker Club :: NLH

Playground is a great place to play poker.... there are some buts...... It is not close to downtown montreal..... you need a car to get there (taxi isn't an option because I think it will cost way to much). Games are aggressive and loose..... Nits will open UTG for 20 in a 1/2 game and everyone knows they got AA and KK and if you have position you will get incredible pot odds..... You will get people who flop top pair top kicker in a 3 bet pot betting out to you (and yes you will have AA) and they will call your re raise...... and they will hit their Q with AQ to your AA on a very dry flop of Q74 rainbow by the river. If you can be patient.... not get sucked out a lot you will make money.
They will feed you for free at the table..... they have multiple tables limits open at most times. I forget when they close as I never stayed that late but they open at noon
They fill vacant positions quickly on cash games, tourneys are very well run. You MUST get a players card to play, waitresses are cute, French and English play at the table but from the older Quebecois they will ignore you if you only speak english, All dealers are bilingual and for the smokers they have an indoor smoking room.
I won't say anything about the hockey players because if Bobby Orr isn't playing then Str82ace has no use..... Love ya AJ.

Hey Guys,
Right off the bat I'm letting you all know that I work for Playground.
The NLH Faceoff event coming up in September is a one of a kind event. Based on the response we've received from our players, the past and present NHL'ers and the poker pro's, this event is going to be repeated next year as well as every year after that for the foreseeable future.
The latest team we announced was quite a blockbuster: P.K Subban & Antonio Esfandiari
The other 5 teams we have announced so far are:
Mike Bossy & Erik Cajelais
Carey Price & Pascal Lefrancois
Bobby Dollas & Gavin Smith
Guy Lafleur & Will Molson
Peter Mahovlich & Jennifer Leigh
This is a three day event running from September 10th-12th. Registered players will have the opportunity to meet all the pro's and get autographs before the start of the tournament on the 10th and 11th.
If that wasn't enough, when you knock out any of the above mentioned names (and the 8 others that have yet to be announced), they will take their jersey off their back (that's right, all NHL'ers and poker pro's will be wearing jerseys) sign it and hand it over to you!!
The next team will be released Monday august 22nd on our website: Playground Poker Club :: NLH
If you are in the Montreal area, tune in to team 990 sports (990am) on Thursday august 25th at 3:45 for your chance to win a buy in, rebuy and add-on for the event.

The rake in the playground is too high...
On average ... I'd guess...
If you play there regularly it will cost you about an extra $30,000 a year extra rake. (300 days... $100 day)

The rake on the $1-$2 is only $2 higher than the casino's. Furthermore our rake is the exact same as any other poker room in Kahnawake.
Unlike the casino, players have access to the bar as well as to our large menu while they are seated at a cash table.
Our tournament players benefit from our monthly $10,000 freerolls as well.
We try our hardest to create an atmosphere that is inviting as well as exciting for all of our patrons.

Part of creating that atmosphere has to involve creating a buzz for your establishment, right? What better way to do that than merchandise distribution?
;-}

Too far to go for just a hat, imo, but I will keep it in mind should I ever find myself in the neighbourhood. Cheers.

At 1/2 $2/pot higher works out to $10,000/year more it you play about 250 days.
The rake is too high.
I'd rather have a lower rake and no promotions.
