Upcoming Tournaments - Details

I thought it would be useful to keep a running post of upcoming Casino based tournaments that are within driving distance of the GTA. That way if forum members need to refer back to a specific tournament, this would be an easy reference source. I will update this post with links to tournament details as they become available. If you have any to add, please PM me the details, and I will add it to the original post.

March 2008

Turning Stone March Madness - March 4 - 9 Buy-ins $200 - $500

http://www.turningstone.com/gaming/p...rchmadness.php

Point Edward Charity Casino - March 25-30 NLH tournaments Buy-ins $100 - $600

[no link available]

April 2008

Great Blue Heron Casino - April 9 - $1,000 + $100 NLH freezeout

http://www.greatblueheroncasino.com/poker.php

Great Blue Heron Casino - April 23 - $200 + $40 Omaha High Tournament

the Seneca link has been updated now. Looks like a fun week although the tournament structure might be a little weak (except for the main event).

where's the tournament structure listed? i can only find the tournament structure for the daily tournaments, and nothing for the winter challenge. if it's even semi-decent i'd consider heading out there.

I think their blind structures don't change from tournament to tournament; only the starting stacks and blind levels. I may play the Thursday and Friday tournaments.

Yes, you have to be 21. The only one casino nearby that allows someone under 21 is Turning Stone.

I emailed Seneca for the blind schedule and they did not send it to me, so the only way to see the blind schedule is by going to their poker room. See http://www.pokerforumcanada.com/showthread.php?p=134120 for my tournament analysis. With an incredible Patience Factor of 33, the Saturday main event will probably be the best tournament to play in all of 2008 within driving distance of the GTA, but unfortunately, few forum members would want to play in the $1,070 event except through a satellite.

Forumers seemed to enjoy the week of Winter Challenge events at Seneca. I asked when the next deep stack tournament will be, and I was told maybe March. There will be a Heads-Up tournament in March at Seneca, and possibly an earlier one in another cardroom.

Note that as of January 31, travel documents will be required for entering the US.

Edited: By land that is...by air as always passport is required.

No, the link I posted is correct:
"As of January 31, 2008, if you travel to the U.S. by land or water, a U.S. law will require you to present:
a government-issued photo ID, such as a driver's licence;
AND
a birth certificate or a citizenship card
OR ..."

In other words, we can no longer drive to Seneca Casino, etc. as of January 31 with just a driver's license.

A few of our groups had presented their drivers license and birth certificate and it was no problem.

My mistake, for some reason I read it as passport...I blame early morning.

And technically, citizenship card and birth certificate are not travel documents.
