Where did I go wrong?

Playing the FTOPS knockout yesterday.....don't have the hand history, but I'll recall the best I can. Early in tourney (in first hour)....starting chips 3000....blinds 30 / 60

I have in the cutoff....(2800 chips)....raise to 180

Button (950 chips).....calls

SB.........folds

BB.....(3900 chips)......re-raise to 500

I call

Button........moves all in

BB........calls

I call

Flop:::

BB.......checks

I move all in for 1700

BB.......calls.....shows

Button shows:

Turn: ......River

Is this just a bad beat.....or did I play it poorly?

I would have flopped a set. That way when the 5 hits on the turn you have a Full House.

If you cant be good like me then just keep getting it in when you're ahead.

Kind of an awkward spot but I think the BB is putting me on a position raise. I like a PF shove here.

Edit: Nevermind the SB shove was short. Not much you can do here.

You got all your chips in when your two opponents had a combined 7 outs? What were you thinking?

Seriously, you did fine, it all worked out in your favour until everyone was committed. Unfortunately the hands off auto-complete portion of the game that I hate so much bit you in the ass.

next time, type "i have JJ" in the chat box before your initial raise. then your opponents will fold correctly and you can take down the 90 pot uncontested instead of having to dodge 7 outs for 6500+.

I must of been off in my numbers a bit......it was open to a re-reraise when it came back to me. I was thinking at the time, big A....so see the flop and push from there.

Don't get me wrong....I loved my spot when I saw what they had. Just want other opinions if you push or flat call.

If action is open here I shove.

How many times are you going to get blown off the pot by a weaker hand when an overcard hits?

BB is gonna bet almost any flop here - then youre really screwed with a decision.

Push after the BB calls the buttons' all in pf....he should fold.

But maybe he doesn't and sucks you out. That's poker.

I was thinking the same thing. If he just called then odds are he is not holding QQ, KK, AA. So I would isolate and have better odds at already big pot.

LOL... I've been tempted to do that sometimes.

You played it fine but when the shorter stacked player shoves preflop I would shove. It generally pushes the player with the larger stack out of the pot and gives you a spot where you likely have very good equity in the pot and you cant get in awkward postflop spots with the other player with a stack. Also, sometimes you'll get a ridiculous call from the larger stacked player when he feels pot commited with 88, 99, or TT.
