Lately I've just been really losing my intrest in online poker.

I only really started playing live poker a few months ago but I just have far more enjoyment playing live, far more engaging and just far more fun.

Online to me has just sort of gotten well boring to me.. I know that may sound like I don't like the game but that's not true.

Also this may sound silly but when it's Online I can sort of have a temper...like a pretty big temper I've been playing really bad the past week and yeah it hasn't been pretty....especially like when I get sucked out..in some WSOP sattys and ugh it's getting to me just thinking about it.

Clearly you have issues. Don't feel bad, so do I. It's taken me a loooong time to work it out.

You have to learn to shrug it off. When you get sucked out, you have to remember that you got the other guy to put his chips in behind and you are playing well, just getting unlucky.

Take a break from online for awhile. Liveaments are much more fun anyhow. If you are still in a rage after a live bad beat, you need a break from the game for awhile.

Obviously if your emotional issues interfere with the rest of your life, seek out some help. It's not cool to be an adult with a rage problem. Trust me, I know first hand what it's like.

There's loads of people on here who have mentioned rage issues due to online poker stress. Enough that we could probably get together and do a bulk buy of Chlorpromazine to save money.

Like Johnnie said, if you aren't enjoying playing online just don't do it. Take a break or for that matter just play live instead. The choice is always yours.

Online poker is a strange animal. It reminds me of baseball. A hall of famer hits .300 for their career, which means they didn't hit the ball 7 out of 10 times, and they are considered one of the best all time ?

Online poker, expecially tournaments, is the same way. A player can go 10, 20, 30 or more tournies without making any money but win one big score for five figures and all of a sudden they are now a winning player.

Good play + volume will eventually lead to profits. Its being able to continue to play well, even when the results aren't there, that seperate the profitable from the donators.

FT and P* both have a "self exclusion" option that I have used several times for various different reasons. It gives you a break away from internet poker and it's one that you cannot cancel. It might do you some good to cut yourself off for a while.

Just be forewarned though, the poker doesn't change. When you get back, you may be more relaxed and happy to be playing again but you will suffer the same suck outs as when you left, the trick is to take the time off to figure out how to learn to accept them.

I find myself being more and more ambivalent to the on-line aspect of poker. I play the Forum tournies on Stars, and am pursuing a small "project" on FTP, but that is about it. I much prefer the social aspect of playing live, especially with some of the knuckleheads around this place.

As one who has gone through this among many others, who do you see still playing when we all started playing poker(or for me 2006)? Not many.

The last year I have only played here and there until recently, for months I did not miss playing but after awhile you get a lil "kick" to play again, I only got interested again when all the u.s. chaos went down and now it's more euro's who are horrible which = $$$$ (If your cards hold up).


As for me, I pretty much have no choice but to play whenever I can due to recent changes that are coming in my life, but I suggest for you play when you feel good and focused and during the time off study the game.

I am planning to go buy my 2nd poker book,(have only read 1 ever, I just studied t.v. coverage alot when I 1st started.)

But if you do the above and when you play just focus on playing good and make good decisions and nothing else you will see good things happen.

I wish to play live alot... anything.. money, bar, freerolls but there isn't much available that I know.

I don't have the money to play at the casino.

Then there is the freerolls I do on the weekend but those really lose the social aspect.. a crowded room with many very small tables all squished in there.. now I've cashed there before but it is sort of a hassle as I have to play pretty tight if I want to be there for any amount of time (Which I usually am) as I almost never rebuy...seeing people just rebuying 5, 6, 7 times and 10 bucks a pop just don't get it.

I'm thinking maybe I should read a poker book sometimes.. but there are so many out there... so much on TV these days too.

First of all you have to decide why you are playing. Is it just for fun and entertainment or are you actually intending to make money. Totally different purposes. If you want to make money you will have to play less hands and learn. If it's just for fun, have fun, play for low stakes and play lots of hands in all positions.

Macke, I feel the same way.
Basically, the only reason I play online is because of convenience. The game is wayyyy faster, more people/tournament so its a greater reward, and online I can play like 6x $4-6 tournies instead of one $40-60 tournament to reduce variance.
You'll get sucked out online just as much as you do live. If you can bare it more live, and have the BR, patience, and time, just play live.

Another solution that I have been doing is to just have a few buddies over that play online. Ya'll can join seperate tournies or the same MTT and have a few beers, bitch about your bad beats, and brag about your flopped flushes etc. Brings back the social aspect, and you all feel like you're on the same team. Pretty fun.

I play for fun no question.. but i'd be lying obviously if I said i wasn't trying to make some money (please don't bring that pro topic up that was tounge in cheek)

But I find I just really don't have that much fun playing online now... this may sound silly but I do think the Black Friday may have something to do with it.. I'll still play online since I can play whenever.

Headed out for some live action tonight.. looking forward to it big time.. should be fun.
