Was I wrong to smooth call the turn in hopes he has AK or high ace and extract a few extra bets out of him? I had to put him on either high ace or high pocket, in which case he is dead. Correct play?

Re: How do you play the turn?

I personally would have reraised him on the turn. Only way he is ahead at the turn is if he holds 53, not likely given the action preflop. I would make him pay for his draw.

I was thinking the same thing, but with that much action what draw do you put him on?

Re: How do you play the turn?

I am thinking a club draw. I figure he has AK or AQ. Raise on turn could be semi-bluff.

Yes, because he's not folding on the turn anyway. Lock in that equity when you know you have the best hand. There's gonna be a lot of scare cards on the river..

No question to re-raise on the turn. There is no way the villian is folding. Maximize your potential with this hand.

He had 89 of diamonds, what a way to get the aces cracked

Re: How do you play the turn?

BTW, you provided no read on your opponent.

If you don't have one, pay more attention to the table.

Re: How do you play the turn?

It was my 2nd hand at the table, the first hand my 77 flopped set lost to a gutshot, nasty two hands! I had no read on the opponent at the time, but he was a donk and lost all my money to everyone else at the table!
