Very aggressive player who had gone all in a lot to steal. He could be holding anything. I figured most likely Ax lower than J, at worst I'd be 50-50. Would you guys call or fold in this bubble situation?

Yes, because of

but it's very dependent on the player type read.

Looks like you made a nice read, and a nice play.

For the second hand, I don't like that call nearly as much, even if you have a similar read on the player type. KQ is not good enough to make a stand with for all your chips.

There is a *world* of difference between these two hands.

I liked the first call. I do not like calling all ins pre flop with KQ except under very unusual circumstances (say you are big blind and its a small amount extra to call).

I do understand your frustration though, it is natural to feel that when you caught an agressive or flat out bad player and they get lucky and win despite themselves.

Just a few minutes ago I had a pretty rough bad beat on a 20 dollar sit and go where I had AJ and raised pre flop from 50 to 250 with one caller.

Flop was Ah Jc 3s

He bet 100 I reraised all in an extra 1400 or so. He called.

He had Kh 7h

After all the chips were bet, the turn and river were hearts (sadly not the jack :P ) and he won with a flush.

These type of bad beats used to get under my skin a lot more then they do now (though obviously they are always frustrating), but as my friend said over and over "some people are just bad players and even bad players can win at times"

In your first case you smartly caught an agressive player and he got lucky. In the second case you caught a pretty bad player and he got lucky. In the end you were in a favorable position in each hand, and as long as you continue to do that the results will work themselves out.

By the way, how the heck do you expect to get a reasonable amount of play in a tournament where the *average* stack is about 3 or 4 big blinds at some point in the tournament?

You generally should be in *dire straits* when you are down to 4 big blinds, not an average stack.
