WPT Borgata Open Qualifier

Playing today at 3pm on Full Tilt in a qualifier for the WPT Borgata Open. Qualified on Tuesday by winning a spot in a satellite.

Any advice for a first timers in a big game like this?

uhh.... "Good Luck, you'll need it?"

Satellites are harsh. You can make it into what would normally be a money position and still get nothing out of it, since typically only the very top few positions pay out. Since you'll want to finish up at the top, you'll have to take a few more chances to build your chipstack than you would in a regular tournament. Don't bleed away chips on slim draws. Put pressure on other stacks with your high cards and pairs. If you can see flops cheaply at the beginning with speculative hands, go for it, but consider the cost of drawing. Otherwise play the solid tournament strategy you used to win your seat.

Good luck.

hork.

Re: WPT Borgata Open Qualifier

Out in 97th out of 201, shortstacked push (9X BB) with 66 and got called by AJ, J on the flop.

Didn't play a lot of interesting hands, though here are some hands of note:

Please comment on my plays.

After this, blinds were getting up there, and I pushed a couple times to take blinds wiith decent hands, until my bustout hand. Was this push bad in early position? Or is it almost irrelevant?
