| Re: Help needed for Home game, blinds and chips(suggestions please)
Here are three suggestions depending on how many chips you want players to start with, or what you want the blinds to look like. Note you have enough chips so that all of these will accomdate up to 8 players. In each case, I'm spelling out 8 levels of 20 mintues each, though I'm expecting the end to come at level 7. (which is about 2-2.5 hours) The estimate end level is marked with an **, though it'll change depending on how tight/loose your game is.
A) 100 points in chips to begin
Starting chips:
20 x white(1)
10 x red(5)
3 x blue(10)
Schedule (raise blinds every 20 minutes)
1/2, 2/3, 2/4, 3/6, 5/10, 10/15, 10/20, 15/30**, 20/40
Notes: Lots of starting chips, players are sometimes put off by the little numbers (i.e I raise you "6", doesn't sounds as fun as "I raise you 1,000")
B) 1,000 in chips to begin
Starting Chips:
10 x red(5)
10 x blue(10)
10 x green(25)
6 x black(100)
Blinds (raise every 20 minutes)
10/20, 15/30, 20/40, 40/60, 50/100, 100/200, 150/300**, 200/400
Notes: lots of chips, and good numbers to bet
C) 2,500 points in starting chips
12 x green(25)
12 x black(100)
2 x blue(500)
Blinds: (raise every 20 minutes)
25/50, 50/100, 75/150, 100/200, 200/400, 300/600, 500/1000**, 1000/2000
Notes: Note as many physical number of chips, but a lot of people like the "numbers" that you get to bet here.
Pick on, give it a try.. if you find the game ending too soon, then add a bunch of chips to everyone and give it a try again. Keep playing around with it and eventually you'll find a structure that you and your players enjoy. Make sure to report back on what you used and how it went. Good luck!
