| What can I say , other than please give me 48 hours.
Well aren't I going to be the laughing stock of the this thread now......
So I tell ya that I have a location, which I did, and told you that I felt comfortable at this place, which I do...and then I get a phone call at 7:45tonight that goes something like this... the venue is holding a poker event $500.00 in, dealer has choice of three games...winner takes all at the end...not bad...one of the players PISSED off his wife, she say's to him (this comes from the horse's mouth, he's a good friend of mine), "If you leave here again tonight I'm calling the f%$#@*& cops and makin sure you never go there again." I'm sure you now what happens next!!!!
So, he goes...are venue is now going to be changed..the date, we are trying to keep the same..I will know more within 48 hours..
I have contacted everyone on the list, to give them back thier deposit until the location has been comfirmed...
Sorry guy's, all that trouble just to stall the tournament. Hopefully it is resolved soon.
Enzo P. and Eric C. you are the only ones I haven't talked to sent emails..please pm, email or call me. Rob

So as you have gathered, we are looking for a new venue (with smoking). If any one has suggestions, or knows a good place that can hold upto 70 people, and is available March 13th, please let me know. I have a couple of places that I'm looking into tommorrow, but they are not for sure.
Thanks,
Rob

Rob,
First of all, I'm sorry that this has happened, and interfered with what was otherwise good tournament planning.
For the sake of all of us, though, who I'm sure have slightly more than a passing interest in this sort of thing, could you tell us exactly what happened? The cops came, and then... ? Any charges laid, any tickets written, any money seized?

Apperently, the players at the table before they were allowed to leave, had to submit picture id (or what ever they had i would guess), and were told that the police would be intouch regardless of pending charges (meaning questioning, and or charges, depending on involvement).
The owner, and the two people sitting at the tables holding the cash (to the best of Frank's knowledge), have been given a court summons (promise to appear) charges pending investigation, money was confiscated, and the L.L. is under suspension until further notice.
Now, this is coming from the guy who tried to get out the door, he is assuming thats what happened, as it has happened before to him (but at a hotel suite), two guy's were taken away, but Frank thinks it was because they were loud mouth a$#holes.
I will keep you updated, because I would like to know the extent of everything, for my own sake, and so I can let other organizers know what to expect.....just in case some else has pissed off their wife...

Thanks very much for the info, and if you hear anything else I'm sure we'd all appreciate it if you could pass it along. As you mentioned, it's good for all of us, and for organizers of these events, to know exactly what could happen.

As soon as I get all the facts, I will post them. But it sounds like the big thing is how pissed the L.L. rep is for having to go out this late at night and much of a stink he makes with the gaming commision, and I think that the police droping charges will depend on how clean every one involved is and how much co-operation they receive. But then again, if someone as close as your wife turns you in....who knows what can happen with total strangers....

| Ripping people off
Some people on this forum and a different one have made comments about maybe me taking the deposit and running. So here is my reply.
Yes the venue got busted, there is an entry fee. I don't know you either, so don't worry about it. and by the way, it is illegal to have a poker game PERIOD, unless you have a Gaming License. And if I was going to rip you off, it would be for alot more than $100. I own my own Electrical company and don't need your $100 entry fee to get by. You $100 entry fee pays for the venue, and insures you are there, as people will pay less of an entry fee and not show.

i) it is true, in the poker game of life, women really are the RAKE
ii) buddy needs to tell his wife he's going out to see the mistress - no need to drag the whole poker community down with him |

If you don't want to answer, I can respect why.

Kingsview Electrical, I'm in my third year of business. Actually this year (knock on wood) looks promising. It's been myself, my brother and 2 guy's that have been with us from when we first started the trade (siffting through diff. companies together). Mostly small jobs, stores, custom homes, odd jobs, etc. 3 weeks ago I was asked to bid 2 jobs for 2 seperate builders, got a call Monday says "Looks good Rob, just waiting for permits" Now it's a new ball game, gotta buy vans, hire guys, more insurance, a shop.....my wife's freakin...doesn't want me to expand..."We're doin fine as it is!"...whatever...go big or go home I say. If it doesn't work out, hey chalk it up.
Actually, I'm stressed right out.lol.

Crap, I just had my whole house re-wired from knob and tube to the good stuff. Wish I would have known...cost me $4400.00. Perhaps I could have gotten the "pokerforum.ca" discount. Anyone know a good plumber in Kitchener-Waterloo?
