Moose in Vegas
So the INS must have a secret file somewhere on Mmoose because we got tagged for 'special service' at the border and she got yanked out of the line for more special service at the airport gate.
Anyways other than that, no problems getting to Vegas and checked in. Ran down to the poker room at TI to register for the $125 bounty then grabbed a bite to eat then made it back just in time for cards in the air at 7pm.
Mmoose wasn't feeling it, so she sat down at 2-4 limit and donked off $60 but drank 7 beers, so that's even right?
I tilted someone out of the tourney before it even began because he was whining about not wanting to know what happened at the WSOP final table and the guy right beside me was Darvin Moon's poker buddy and watched most of the play yesterday. So I was quietly discussing it with him and the guy got all tilty and cashed out before we started. Interesting note: Pokerstars offered Moon a 1.2m contract and he turned it down. You will notice that he had no pokersite badges all the way to the final table. Anyways it was interesting talking to this guy. I'm sure no one would be surprised to learn that they have these 40-50 player home games all the time and that he has never won. That was about as close as he came to admitting that Moon is a donk. Anyways I digress.
So I pretty much led coast to coast except for the times I dumped a lot of chips trying to take out players for the bounties. Like the time I moved the worst player in with the nut straight and flush draw but of course he had already made quads. Good reads like that. Eventually I picked up a couple of bounties and then pissed off the 3rd place guy because on the final break I went through all the stack counts and the prize pool and decided that I wasn't going to chop, there was no extra special jacket or trophy or anything and really the extra moniez just wasn't worth it to me. So 3rd place busts out and tilts off, when we could have gone 3 way and finished with better than 2nd place money but c'est la vie. Then of course lost back to back allins to finish 2nd. Of course the final hand was soooo great. AK vs QQ and of course the Q comes to make a straight for AK but I was happy with my bounties and 2nd pl moniez. Won some more playing 1-3 nl. Just like Wetts, the rest of the week is a freeroll.
No pressure Jeff...haha.
Btw the worst player at the table was some really crazy guy. Kept splashing the pot and doing other annoying things, tilting the dealers. The floor got called several times to deal with this nutbar. Would lick his fingers then pick up his chips. The chips were wet. Pretty gross. Then he intentionally licked his fingers again and handled his cards. So the floor got called again. Fun times. I didn't care, I knew eventually he would lose all his chips, hopefully to me but not the licked ones.
Side note: even though they say they are taking 30% withholding they never asked for SSN's. We got paid in chips and went on our merry way.
Tomorrow Harrahs Mega stack then WSOP FT watching.

Oh and as for freerollin, I'm already covered. My Royal cup win along with my 4th place Belwood finish yesterday go a long way towards doing the same for me.
I have also rented a car which I'm picking up at McCarron tomorrow morning so will have lots of moving around freedom...
I'm checking out the Mega stack today, Jeff and likely the Sahara tournament on Tues night at 7pm.
Wetts was supposed to do the bounty with me on Sun but I guess he was busy elsewhere.
The bounty goes again on Wed at 11 am which I may do again but Wed is the slowest day so it might be too small. I am going to wait and see how many are in today Mega Stack before playing. Might stick to cash games before heading to the Rio.

Going to play the $200 Nooner at Caesars if I dont get in.
The 3pm ended around 815 so I dont feel too bad about missing this.
Not sure what this means but the final 4 at my table were all Canadian. 2 Vancouver, 1 Whistler and myself.

Breakfast was great. Anyone who knows me from my BCC exploits knows I won't stand waiting for nothing. So while we were waiting for a table at Denny's I slid next door to Casino Royale for one roll of craps. +$121 and I was freerolling breakfast 10 min later. Unfortunately it's now $3 min and 20x odds but still pretty good value. After breakfast we played some free spin thingy and Fran won a ton of uncashable comp slot dollars so while she played that out I got bored and shocker went to shoot craps. +$227 on that roll. Whee!
Crash and burn posts to come later I suppose. Still it's great to be put money INto the safe.
Wetts came by for a while and played 1-2 and Mmoose dropped more than I won while waiting for me. On one of the breaks managed to drop 82 on craps. Damn my policy of no waiting when there is gambling to be done.
After a LATE dinner headed to the TI poker room for 1-3nl but I was getting run over by locals who all knew each other. To the extent that the players were borrowing smokes from the dealers. So got the hell out of there down 160 and back to Casino Royale for more $3 craps. Found out they DO in fact allow 100x odds but min bet is $5. 20x is plenty for me. Anyways after floating up and down a bit while I waited for my turn to roll to come up, which took most of an hour, I managed to hit 6 four times at max odds and walk away up a tidy $175, covering my poker losses for the evening. Ooh I love Casino Royale craps.
Im thinking of skipping the Deepstack today. Gonna play Caesars at 9am and the either Wynn or Bellagio at 2pm. Ive never played at either of these places so I might make it interesting.
IDK - will be a last minute decision.
The 7PM at Caesars has had 6K first prizes 2 nights in a row and thats pretty good for a "non series" relatively cheap buyin.

Shit too late. She was there too. No luck in tourneys today. Mmoose bubbled the 11am bounty at Harrahs. 2 bounties. Suxors.
Won some more at craps waiting for Denny's again. Beat lost my glucometer, realized it at breakfast. Ran around looking for it. No luck. After breakfast went back to TI and some kind soul had turned it in.
Accomplished my goal of teaching Jeff -ev gambling. I win $1 and Jeff drops $40 at craps. Jeff is unimpressed.
Mmoose drops $100 trying to win dinner at Casino Royale switch BJ. So head to Rio for seafood buffet. Beat: get there before buffet opens at 4. So try and win dinner again playing BJ. I win $30 but Mmoose drops $100. Dealer takes pity and gives us a 15% off comp.
Compuease picks us up at TI and we play 7pm tourney. No luck for anyone. Lost $100 at craps before leaving Sahara. Sigh.
Won $70 at 1-3nl back at TI. Beat: left a very soft table to go watch Siren show at TI. Cheesiest show I have ever seen in Vegas. Highly NOT recommended. Got back to find the table had collapsed. Brag cashed out $30 in comps so free breakfast tmr.
Bend over hand of the day. 4 limpers for 150 in Sahara tourney. I was just over starting stack of 4k. Pop it from the button to 1000 with KK because they are that bad. UTG limper shoves for 4k+. I insta call and insta bust when Q10o flops broadway.
Pretty much today sucked.
Going to have to have one more go at Casino Royale craps. Likely in 11am bounty at TI. Getting together for dinner hopefully with everyone at Ellis Island 3:45 pm and that will wrap Vegas.
Limit HE is virtually done in Vegas. Only saw 2-4 at IP, Sahara and TI and the tables struggled to be full. 2-4 ran Sun night at TI and that was it for the week. Never saw limit at the Venetian or Harrahs. Last year found lots of 3-6 but never saw it anywhere this year. 2-4 is so completely dull unless you are hammered.
But playing nl cash in Vegas is so serious. I hate it and the crappy/tourist players won't sit in cash tables probably for the same reason. I think from now on I will mostly play tournies because they are full of bad players with more money than brains. People play the tournies, bust and leave. It drives me crazy to see 40-50 people sign up for a $65 donkament at TI and yet they can't keep a decent cash game running. Maybe 100 people played the Sahara tourney but the nl cash table ran for about 2 orbits 5 handed and then collapsed. The TV effect of nl tournies has killed any desire for limit HE and the corresponding addition of multiple donkament tournies at every casino has killed the soft nl cash action as well. It drives me crazy that the only way to get at these horrible players is to play them in tournies but you have to put up with their clueless behaviour while the clock is running and the suckout effect is permanent. The rake is high and the structure is bad and mostly there are no comps for tourney play, further reducing your advantage. Or you can pay a large buyin for good structure but then the tournies are tough and there are less bad players. Arrgh. Vegas was so frustrating this trip. /end rant.

Anyways met up with Jeff at 11 am to play the TI bounty but there weren't many players so we left for Bill's to play the Aces cracked promo. The tables were full and they promised to send over another dealer from IP. So while we waited mmoose played BJ for a while and I went to the craps table. Compuease doesn't do -ev gambling so he sat around and then Wetts popped by too. Meanwhile this guy went on a wicked roll in craps so I suggested that Wetts and Compuease go to the Flamingo for nl action since the promised dealer from IP hadn't shown up. The dude continued his hot roll and I finally left up $200. Then we headed for the Flamingo as well.
Compuease and Wetts were already playing and the nl tables were full so I sat in some more stab my eyes out please 2-4 limit. Fortunately like 5 hands later a seat opened at a 1-2 nl game. The tables at Flamingo were surprisingly busy for a Wed aft and my nl game was crazy soft. Wetts soon left and shortly after Compuease headed back to his room at IP. Making quad aces and getting paid by a boat was nice and I left a couple hours later +$333. We decide to go back to Bill's for a while for .5/1 donkaments. The aces cracked promo had just ended so the tables emptied and we got seats right away. I lost a few bucks and mmoose shows a small profit. Everyone mostly buys in for $20 or so and there just really isn't any money to be made there but it is a relaxing way to waste a few hours.
We headed over to IP to meet Compuease at 3:30 to go to Ellis Island for dinner. Of course the craps table beckoned. Mmoose wanted to give it a try and I promised just to watch. Of course that didn't last long and I had to lay some bets as well. Lol mmoose loses a few dollars and Compuease shows just in time to see me lift another $17 at craps.
We head for Ellis Island. You have to get there by 3:45 because it is small and if you aren't there before the BBQ opens at 4pm, you wait like an hour for the early diners to eat and leave. With a players card you get a huge 1/2 rack of ribs, garlic bread, beans, coleslaw and a 1/2 chicken that's way larger than the crap you get at Swiss Chalet, for $6.99. It's brew pub too so they also have lots of tasty brew. It's our favourite place to go in Vegas, although the casino is a hole.
After dinner we swing by TI and pick up our luggage then park at Hooters and walk to MGM. Thanks compuease for shuttling us around. It was awesome. On a side note, compuease is so chill, I would gamble with this guy any time. Nothing bothers him, he never complains and will do almost anything. We only hung out for 1.5 days and it really made our trip into an awesome experience.
My nl table sucked at MGM. Totally filled with sharks who only knew fold or 3 bet. After 5 preflop 3 bet allins in 2 orbits I moved to more poke my eyes out 2-4 limit. That sucked as well. So we decided to head for Excalibur. Good ol' compuease cashed out and followed us too even though he had already doubled through with QQ or something. Wrapped the trip with a table massage for mmoose and I, which I thought was coming from my table winnings from another soft 1-2 nl game, but alas my set of Kings ran into a set of Aces, allin preflop for the AA. My eyes bugged out when the cards rolled over on the flop (3 way to the flop) after the 3rd guy folded to my c-bet. Winning that pot would have capped a perfect trip. Oh well, we race back to compuease's car, forgetting the -ev roulette gambling we promised Prophet. Just like the last trip, made it through security and to the gate with about 5 minutes to spare. Absolutely no gambling time wasted.
Family Day weekend is somewhere in there right? If it is I think I'm gonna go (I also said that about this trip/Vancouver, so who the hell knows whether I'll actually go - at least I'm done school by then.)
Sweet. And head straight up to Vancouver from Vegas...that might work out nicely.
Which flight are you taking on Feb 12? Flying from Buffalo I presume?
