I was kicking myself for not getting any of your Rama action. Well done.
  • I'm already registered for the first $365 WSOPc at Casino Montreal on April 20th.

Let me know if you want a % and/or we can do a SWAP for one of the events when you are there.

    Thanks!
  • Ok well I'll probably take 5% to start, and maybe swaps can be discussed if at all at a later date.

Where will you sleep then?? Lol

I busted the tournament...couldn't get anything going. The good news is I'm already registered for tomorrow's $365.

    I will update tomorrow..
  • How would you rate the field compared to a brantford tourny ?

    Better luck tomorrow!
  • I would also like to know, or compared to the Rama tourneys?
  • Buddy and I we're discussing this yesterday. He thought the field was comparable to Brantford and Rama. (He rates Rama as the softest in ON). He had a fish at his first table that was new to the game. I went bust in level 5 so I only played at my initial table. I had mostly young guns at my table that seemed competent enough. I did have an older guy on my left that was a bit spewey. I didn't see anybody chugging beers at the tables like at Rama. Buddy busted in 11th. He said the players at the final two tables were competent.
Obviously there is a lot of French spoken at the tables by the players and dealers. They don't announce the bet sizes in both languages like they often do at Playground. They will speak English but only when spoken to in English. All of the tournament opening remarks by the TD were also in French. The staff here have been very friendly and have been helpful. The tournament has been well run so far. They are organized. They even served a nice buffet style dinner to the players in the tournament, which was a bit of a surprise to Buddy and myself as they must have announced it in French before the cards were in the air.
Next tournament starts at noon today. Here is to some run good...I will post updates during breaks today!
  • How was the adjustment to the French cards? Take a bit or were you able to adapt quickly? I'm probably over thinking it, but just really dreading playing with them.
  • I busted again today towards the end of lvl 5 before the break. Unfortunately Buddy preceded me shortly before. I had a few loose aggro French guys at my table. We played short handed for what seemed to be a long time. 3 handed for the 1st level, then 6-handed for a couple of levels and then the table filled up to 9 before I busted. They started the Day with a lot more tables open as they were expecting more late entries. I lost a decent chunk of my stack with AK < Q6 sooted after I 3-bet PF, C-bet flop with my paired A. He hit his flush on the turn. I doubled back up to around 7.5k with a flopped set of 5's. Then took a couple more hits. I lost a race with A5 suited with two diamonds came on a J high board when I didn't hit the flush or my overcard. I finally bowed out when my 66 < AQ when villian caught up on the river. It's hard to put some of these guys on a range when they seemingly play any two cards. I will be making some adjustments for tomorrow's tournament. I'm going to up my 3 betting frequency, and value betting larger with my premium hands. I hope to run a little better as the cards I have been getting leave much to be desired. As far as the French deck I don't find it difficult to adjust. The first time I played with the French deck was at OPT satellite, and this is only my second time. If you have to take a little longer with the cards , I don't see that as being a problem. Just don't mouth the letters or use the cheat sheet! Also don't worry too much, I think some of the French players have difficulty too, especially the Playground regs...
I will be working towards getting TorontoPimps doggie a nice new bed so he can have the couch back...
  • Even though I have memorized RDV & Roi-Dame-Valet, I always peek at my dealer-supplied translation card. Tracking the pot size, pot odds, equities, ranges, default Nash Equilibrium play, etc. while giving the Timex death stare to villain is challenging enough for me, that when I get VD or RV or RR, my brain initially says WTF do I have?! I rarely look at my hole cards before it's my turn to act, but one adjustment I've made is to look earlier so I can figure out what to do with my WTF cards.

There was a hand on my table where the board was D-10-A-V-R rainbow. Player 1 checks, Player 2 looks at the board, goes all-in and smiles. Believe it or not, 1 tanks for a long time, and eventually folds! Even RDV-challenged me couldn't help saying, "OMFG!" Another clueless player asked if a player with a 9 would have won the hand. Poker is not dead after all.

The old WSOP rules could have given a penalty to 1 for folding the stone cold nuts. He was knocked out the very next hand by the same player 2. Welcome to Casino Montreal.

  • Okay here is my mental cheat sheet for all you players worried about the French deck - including my roommate here in Montreal.

You look down at the cards...if you see a 'D', well that is a Dame - the Queen. If it's another letter, then it's gotta be one of those "other guys"!

Tomorrow's lesson will be on the ranking of the suits....
  • Fired 3rd bullet today into the $365 WSOP circuit. Made it to first break even though I have been relatively card dead...will update next break.

202 runners today. $15k up top
